NBA Best Bets Today – Wednesday, November 8

Los Angeles Clippers at Brooklyn Nets (+5)

If we learned anything from the debut of James Harden with the Clippers on Monday, it is that it is going to take some time for this group to figure out how to play together on the offensive end of the floor. During the 2010-2011 campaign, Miami’s new big-three was only 7-7 during the month of November before they truly started to gel. The Nets have been a perfectly competent NBA team so far this year, ranking 16th in Net Rating through seven games played. Expect them to be competitive this evening against the Clippers.

Los Angeles Lakers at Houston Rockets (+4)

Though the Rockets drew a lot of criticism for their offseason moves, there is little doubt that they are a much improved team this year compared to last year. Through six games played, Houston ranks 13th in Net Rating and has a 3-3 record to show for their efforts. The Lakers are 0-4 on the road this season and were below .500 on the road last year as well. This is a good opportunity to invest in a Houston team that is playing well after three consecutive convincing wins.

Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets (-3)

Last year, the Nuggets were 34-7 on their home floor and their +9.6 Net Rating in those games was the third-best mark of any team in the NBA. Denver is 7-1 to begin the new campaign, with their lone defeat coming on the road against the Timberwolves. The Nuggets once again look like the best team in the league during the early portion of the season, and tonight they are favored by only three points against a Golden State team that is thin on depth and traveling into the altitude. Nikola Jokic and company should be able to take care of business in this spot.
