Hittin' The Nuts with Squirrelpatrol - Tuesday, January 30th

Want to hit the nuts and take down 1st place in these massive contests posted by FanDuel and DraftKings? Who better to walk you through their favorite NBA DFS picks than Squirrelpatrol! Undoubtedly one of the best DFS players in the game today, Squirrelpatrol has accumulated 90+ Live Final seats, won the FanDuel 2021 World Fantasy Basketball Championship for $500,000, and most recently, took down the NFL Milly Maker in Week 2.
The NBA season continues on Tuesday with a mid-sized, 5-game slate that tips off at 7:30 PM ET and is about as messy with injuries as we’ve seen this season. The first three games tip off right at the 7:30 PM ET lock time, with the Jazz traveling to New York to take on the Knicks (Knicks -4.5, 229 total), the Lakers in Atlanta (Hawks -6, 248.5 total), and the Pacers in Boston (Celtics -7.5, 245 total). There are injury situation in all three games, with the Knicks still missing Julius Randle and O.G. Anunoby listed as questionable, Dejounte Murray and De’Andre Hunter questionable for Atlanta, Anthony Davis out for the Lakers while LeBron James is questionable, and Kristaps Porzingis, Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, Jalen Smith, and Myles Turner all questionable in the IND/BOS game.
The NBA’s liberal use of the questionable injury designation continues in the two later games. The Raptors visit Chicago at 8:00 PM ET, with the Bulls favored by 6.5 points and a 226.5 total. Jakob Poeltl is listed as questionable after missing the past three weeks. The final game of the night is two hours later, with the 76ers visiting the Warriors. Golden State is favored by 3.5 points and in a game with a 235.5 total. Both Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid are listed as questionable, creating a difficult situation if we don’t get clarity by the time the slate locks with this being the only game in the late window.
The good news is that with the majority of the games tipping off when the slate locks, we should get additional news as starting lineups are announced leading up to 7:30 PM ET. Let’s sort through the slate with the news we have now and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.
NBA DFS Lineup Advice: Squirrelpatrol’s ‘Hittin’ The Nuts’ (January 30th)
High Flyers
Who are the players I’m picking first for my squad? These guys are the first selections for both my cash game and tournament lineups, and I’ll sacrifice elsewhere, if need be, to ensure I get them in:
DAngelo Russell
FanDuel: $7,800
DraftKings: $7,100

The Lakers re-inserted Russell into the starting lineup 9 games ago, and since then, he has averaged 27 points and 6.2 assists per game. His price has risen $1,600 on FanDuel and $900 on DraftKings in that time, which is a significant increase but still not too much for those averages. Tonight, Anthony Davis is out and LeBron James is listed as questionable, and Russell sees a 2.3% usage bump with AD off the court this season. The Lakers have played at the fastest pace in the NBA since Russell went back into the starting lineup (compared to 6th for the overall season), and this game has the highest point total on the night.
Nikola Vucevic
FanDuel: $7,900
DraftKings: $7,500

Vucevic had a rough start to the season, but he’s been playing better this month, shooting 53.6% from the field and pulling down 11.1 rebounds per game, his highest monthly averages on the season. The Raptors have been getting beat in the middle recently, allowing the most points in the paint per game and the most rebounds per game over every team’s last 8 games, setting up a nice spot for Vucevic to continue his streak of good play.
