I was going to say the NBA is taking a balanced approach to the schedule this week. We’re tipping things off with a reasonably sized 5-gamer tonight, followed by a larger-than-usual Tuesday docket tomorrow. Skip ahead to Thursday, though, and there’s just one (1) game on the board. What? Why?

I figured Thursday must be some holiday, and a quick Google search confirmed my suspicions. November 14th is National Seat Belt Day. “Set an example by belting up and being safe on the road,” it says. I can’t imagine anyone has ever unironically advised someone else to “belt up,” but I will now be saying it forever.

Anyway, enough about how I spent my morning. Let’s belt up and get to those 5 games on tonight’s schedule.

Los Angeles Clippers (at OKC)

First off, it’s worth noting this slate starts an hour later than usual with all 5 games tipping off at 8:00 PM ET. We’ll start with the Clippers, who are 6.5-point underdogs in Oklahoma City as they continue to play without Kawhi Leonard. James Harden (32.4% usage, 1.43 FP/minute) is having a magical start to the season. You can argue he should be over $10,000 at this point, but he’s just under it on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The Thunder lead the NBA in defensive rating, but they might get a little worse in that regard without Chet Holmgren for the next couple of months. He’s a strong play if pOWN% is reasonably low in GPPs. Ivica Zubac (1.12 FP/min.) and Norman Powell (1.06) are also off to impressive starts, and I like the spot for Zubac against an Oklahoma City team that struggled in the rebounding department even with Chet healthy. LA has a whole mess of other wings getting minutes, but the only standout from a DFS standpoint is Kevin Porter Jr., who’s been productive (1.1 FP/min.) despite limited minutes off the bench.
