What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
tcsmith031: I’ll roll out a few single-entry lineups tonight, which is typically how I approach small slates. With the Immanuel Quickley news pending in the late island game, I like the idea of leaving several roster spots open and pivoting depending on his status. Quickley makes for an intriguing GPP option if he suits up, and the nature of the slate means much of the field may not be able to make the appropriate pivots and react to the news.
Krayton: I will be sticking to single-entry contests as I normally do, but they really stand out as a great option on small slates. I will be getting heavy exposure to the CHI/ATL game, as they have the highest total and closest spread by far. I plan to get quite a bit of exposure to Zach LaVine if he plays. If he doesn’t, I will be overweight on Nikola Vucevic and Coby White.
ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments – On short slates, I loosen my usual rules. Often, I won’t allow my lineups to have more than three players from one team, and I will set a minimum salary for my lineups. I won’t be making any of those rules on a slate this short, as fewer fantasy points are required from each roster spot, and a game going to overtime is even more impactful.
TJ Zwarych: I prefer single-entry and 3-entry max tournaments on small slates like this while picking one specific game to target and full stack. Tonight, that will be the Bulls and Hawks. While certain plays like Jalen Johnson and Garrison Matthews are projecting for high ownership, I plan to be overweight on the entirety of both teams, specifically plays like Trae Young, Nikola Vucevic, and the Bulls guards if Lavine were to miss this game.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
