What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. This is shaping up to be a stars-and-scrubs slate. The Mavericks are the team I plan to have the most exposure to. They are likely going to be without Anthony Davis (out) and Cooper Flagg (doubtful), yet they have a team total that is 5 points higher than their season average. To be a little different, I like spending up on Kevin Durant, who has quietly been on a tear over the last few weeks.
headChopper: I like smaller-field GPPs that have multiple entries for this slate – nothing too overwhelming but still enough room to build around 20 lineups and chase a solid 1st-place prize. With heavy early chalk expected on Dallas, I want to be careful about how many of them I lock into my lineups. I also plan to keep plenty of roster spots open for late-night hammers. With both Dallas and Utah on the second night of a back-to-back, I’m willing to break my Dallas cap if late news rules key players out after initial lock. Because of that, my rosters will be back-loaded while I wait on news. If it never comes, I’m perfectly fine capping Dallas at two players per lineup to avoid getting stuck in that chalk logjam.
Dean78904: I only make a few main lineups and mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field type of contests. The slate will be largely dictated by UTA/DAL, a game between two bad teams who are playing on the second night of a back-to-back and are motivated to lose, and neither team has released their injury report as of early afternoon. That said, there should be plenty of value, and the game is impossible to ignore (especially on the Dallas side). The question is how to surround it, and my current plan is to play mini game stacks around it. So if I play a Celtic (e.g. Jaylen Brown), I’d pair him with someone on Miami (e.g. Bam Adebayo). Pairing Victor Wembanyama with Giannis Antetokounmpo or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with Alperen Sengun are options I’m considering.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
