What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. While it’s tempting to chase the huge prize pools, you can win small-field contests with a good lineup—not a perfect one. For tonight’s slate, I want to be overweight on a few players in particular. Bennedict Mathurin saw massive FP/min. and usage boosts with Tyrese Haliburton out last season, Aaron Gordon posted huge preseason per-minute numbers, and Jonathan Kuminga is underpriced given his role as a starter.
headChopper: With only 2 games on the slate, I’m sticking to small-field contests with limited entries. I’d never fade an entire team, but I’ll be underweight on Indiana compared to the field. With such a small player pool, a solid strategy is to build a core lineup with one OKC value play and then cycle through lineups by swapping that OKC value player for another. One of them usually hits – it’s just a guessing game which one it’ll be.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field type of contests. I absolutely want to prioritize Nikola Jokic and have more than the field. On FD, where you can only roster one center, I do like the idea of leaning into the unknown of the cheap Pacers (in lineups I don’t have Jokic). Isaiah Jackson, Obi Toppin, and Jay Huff are all solid FPPM players, and I think one of them can be very useful. Due to a combination of hot hands, foul trouble, quick hooks, etc., it is very hard to predict how the minute delegation will settle among the three, but I think you are supposed to take shots here (especially in large-field tournaments).
