Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Jaylen Brown – Given how many players project well, Brown is going to fly under the radar once again. He leads the Celtics in usage rate (34%) and has topped 47 fantasy points in 4 of his last 7 games. He has legitimate upside for 60 fantasy points against the Nets, who are 24th or worse in rebounding rate, 3-point percentage allowed, defensive rating, and points allowed per game.
headChopper: Jalen Johnson – Since Trae Young went down with injury, Johnson has increased his fantasy production from 38 DK points per game to 52 DK points per game. He has 5 different games in that span with 7 or more assists, and he dropped a ridiculous 88.6 on FanDuel just 5 days ago. On the FanDuel slate, there’s Luka Doncic and really no one else in that tier, and Luka isn’t on the DK slate, so the top projected guys aren’t the usual big names like Nikola Jokic or Giannis Antetokounmpo. Johnson has as good a chance as anyone – and might even be the odds-on favorite – to finish as the leading fantasy scorer tonight. All this, and early projected ownership has him at just 13% on DK.
ncorfield8k: Jaylen Brown – There is volatility in Brown’s minutes, but he has played 38+ minutes in 2 of his past 7 games. If he can play minutes in the upper 30s, Brown should smash against this Nets defense. They play at a slow pace, but they also have the worst defensive rating in the league, and they are the 4th-best matchup for Scoring Wings in our Defense vs. Archetype tool.
