Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy Tuesday!

IH5

I haven’t been on Core Plays duty since last Thursday, so it’s been a while. I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Halloween. If anyone is looking for an idea for one of their kids next year, we made an invisible man costume for our 11-year-old. It was fairly easy to make. We bought a suit from a thrift store and then used a cardboard box, a backpack, a fedora, and some sunglasses. We couldn’t believe how well it turned out and how many compliments he got on the costume (much to the chagrin of our 10-year-old).

We only have 6 games on the schedule tonight, but we still couldn’t get FanDuel and DraftKings to agree on a main slate size. While it’s a little more work on the content side, I actually like that the sites put out different slates. It’s never bad to have choices, and instead of figuring out slightly different puzzles for each site, we have two unique puzzles to put together tonight.

Slate Overview

News Updates

1:20 PM ET

We have an update from the Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as probable for tonight’s game. This hurts the appeal of his teammates on this slate, but he’s firmly in play in all formats, and I still have my eye on Ryan Rollins for tournaments.

Milwaukee Bucks (at TOR)

We kick off tonight’s slate with the Bucks, who travel to Toronto to take on the Raptors. This has been a solid matchup so far this season, as the Raptors are 8th in pace and 24th in points allowed per game. Milwaukee’s team total is 7 points lower than their season average, but that has a lot to do with Giannis Antetokounmpo. He’s been nursing a knee injury, and this is a back-to-back for the Bucks. I’ll provide an update once Milwaukee releases its initial injury report.

For now, let’s assume Giannis will suit up tonight. He has averaged 2.01 DK / 1.97 FD points per minute this season and has scored at least 57 fantasy points in every game. The matchup is one of the best on the board, so he’ll be a strong play in all formats if active. Ryan Rollins is starting with Kevin Porter Jr. out and has topped 35 fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games. He’s no longer cheap, but he’s still viable on DraftKings at $6,100.

Gary Trent is priced under $5,000 on both sites and should continue to play 30+ minutes per game. He’s a solid lineup filler on this slate. My interest in the rest of the lineup hinges on the availability of Giannis. If he’s out, Kyle Kuzma would likely draw another start, Bobby Portis would likely see an uptick in minutes, and Cole Anthony could become an interesting tournament play off the bench.

Toronto Raptors (vs. MIL)

The Raptors host the Bucks, who are playing in the second half of a back-to-back. Milwaukee is slightly above the league average in pace and slightly below the league average in points allowed per game. The Raptors have a team total of 121 points, which is the 2nd highest on the slate. Jakob Poeltl is questionable, so we’ll have to keep an eye on his availability.

Immanuel Quickley has underwhelmed this season and is only projected for 31 minutes. RJ Barrett has been more efficient on a per-minute basis and is priced under $7,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Both guards are best suited as tournament plays this evening. If you need a punt for large-field tournaments, Jamal Shead has topped 15 fantasy points in 5 straight games and is close to min-salary.

Brandon Ingram and Scottie Barnes have led the Raptors in usage and have both been great on a per-minute basis. While Ingram is cheaper, I prefer finding the extra cap space for Barnes. He has averaged 1.31 DK / 1.31 FD points per minute this season. If Poeltl ends up being out, we’ll have some value to choose from in the frontcourt.
