Best NBA Player Props for PrizePicks — Points
D’Angelo Russell, Wolves vs Warriors: OVER 19.5
Russell has been on a mini-heater lately, averaging 27.6 points over Minnesota’s last three games. And he’s notched at least 21 points 12 different times since January 5. I think he will continue his hot streak this evening, and put up 20 in what should be a high-scoring affair. D-Russ will be motivated – in each of the Wolves’ two meetings with his former squad this season, he failed to crack 20 points. The Warriors don’t anything close to their usual defensive prowess with Draymond Green sidelined. Hit the OVER and root for the shooter to shoot.
Bruce Brown, Nets vs. Raptors: OVER 10.5
I always like to find one more obscure player for points props, because they usually have a much lower mark to hit than the high-profile names. Bruce Brown has been quietly feasting on extra usage lately, with Brooklyn stars Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons out and Kyrie Irving only available in certain away games. The little big man that could has logged at least 14 points in each of the Nets’ last three games, and he’s averaged 13.2 points per game over BK’s last seven. He’s a grinder – always happy to do the dirty work in the trenches despite his 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame – as evidenced by his 15 offensive rebounds over the course of his last five games. He’s also hitting his free-throw attempts efficiently as of late, something he’s struggled with in the past. Brown should see double-digit field-goal attempts once again – like he has in five of Brooklyn’s last six games – and I think he’ll convert five or six shots for around 13-16 total points. It doesn’t have to be exciting to make you money.
Best NBA Props— Assists
Cade Cunningham, Pistons vs. Wizards: OVER 4.5 Assists
It’s nice to see that Detroit’s habitually head-scratching head coach Dwane Casey has been using his No. 1 pick to make plays, way more than he did toward the beginning of Cunningham’s rookie season. I know Cade was battling some nagging injuries, but it was just very frustrating to see him take a backseat to Killian Hayes, Corey Joseph, and Jerami Grant when you knew full well the rookie could be lighting defenses up if he had the ball in his hands. Now, Casey looks resigned to the fact that Cunningham is the Pistons’ best player. All he needs is a steady 34 minutes per game to reach robust averages of 18/6/6. And when he averages 40 minutes per game: 25/6/5. Of course, all we need tonight is five assists. The OK State product has reached at least five dimes in 13 of his last 22 games, and he averages 5.6 helpers per home game. Against a Washington squad that’s reeling since dealing away multiple key players – and continuing to play without banged-up stars Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis – I think MotorCade will have a statistical parade in this Tuesday night affair.
Patrick Beverley, Wolves vs. Warriors: OVER 3.5 Assists
I know it’s weird that I’m going with all OVER props so far… but it’s much more fun for me to pick props I think will go OVER, and it’s much less stressful than watching a game biting our nails hoping for an UNDER. So, here we are again. PatBev has been a Swiss Army Knife for the Wolves this year, perhaps Minnesota coach Chris Finch’s best surprise of the season next to big man “(player-popup #jarred-vanderbilt)Jarred Vanderbilt”:/players/jarred-vanderbilt-409024’s Dennis Rodman-like emergence. Beverley has been a glue guy through and through, and the veteran’s tenacity on both ends of the floor has directly influenced dozens of wins for this otherwise-young squad. The ninth-year guard has averaged 9.2/4.3/4.8 this season, and he’s put up 5.5 dimes per games in which he averages over 30 minutes. Bev has only averaged 7.5 points against Golden State this season, but he’s notched 5.0 boards and 5.5 dimes per game against the Warriors. I think four assists is an easy mark for Mr. 94 Feet. I’ll also be quietly rooting for the OVER on 0.5 PatBev technical fouls.
Best NBA Props — Rebounds
Jerami Grant, Pistons vs. Wizards: UNDER 3.5 Rebounds
One thing that bothers me about Jerami Grant is the fact that he thinks he’s a go-to scorer in the NBA. Another problem I have is that he doesn’t feel obligated to crash the boards. Just because you play on a rebuilding team, doesn’t mean you don’t have to put in the work. Since Grant returned from injury on February 1, he has just four games out of 12 in which he’s hauled in four rebounds. That’s pathetic for an athletic 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward. And he’s only averaged 3.9 boards per game across his seven-year career! Grant wants to be an offensive stud, and that’s that. So, until Dwane Casey yells at him to be the three-and-D, board-crashing forward they need him to be, bet him to fall UNDER the 3.5 rebound mark most nights. He’ll let younger teammates Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, and Isaiah Stewart pull down 20 or so collective boards while he coasts to the finish line, and he’ll probably let Kyle Kuzma rip down 10 of his own.
Robert Williams, Celtics vs. Hawks: OVER 10 Rebounds
Now here’s a dude who knows how to battle on the boards! Time Lord has been a revelation this season, fully unleashed now that he’s fully healthy. Williams has pulled down 11 rebounds in six of Boston’s last eight games, including 14 the last time the C’s played Atlanta on February 13. He rips down 10.4 boards per home game, and he cleared 10.8 rpg in January and 10.6 rpg in February. When he gets the minutes (31 mpg in Jan, 32 mpg in Feb), he puts up the stats. And there’s no way Celtics coach Ime Udoka will suddenly tone down the Time Lord’s playing time. Boston is gunning for a top-four seed, and Williams will play a major role in obtaining that goal. Go with RW3 to get nasty on Clint Capela this evening.
