We are only a week into the regular season, but the big names are already piling up on the NBA injury report. Paolo Banchero, Kawhi Leonard, Alperen Sengun, Jalen Duren, Tyrese Haliburton, Ivica Zubac, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Anthony Edwards, and Jaren Jackson have all been ruled out for tonight’s action. Kyrie Irving and Lauri Markkanen are each questionable.

Best NBA Player Props for Wednesday, October 28th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 28th:
- Franz Wagner Over/Under 24.5 Points
- Brandin Podziemski Over/Under 16.5 Points
- Dejounte Murray Over/Under 6.5 Assists
Franz Wagner UNDER 24.5 Points (-122, DraftKings)
According to CourtIQ, Wagner averaged 26.6 points per 36 minutes last season with both Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs off of the floor. Yet, he’s not guaranteed to be the clear-cut alpha in this Orlando offense if he can’t be more efficient with an expanded role.
Desmond Bane had 22 points on only 13 shot attempts against New York in Orlando’s last game. Tristan da Silva and Anthony Black were similarly efficient in ancillary roles, while Wagner needed 23 shot attempts to get to 23 points.
The Raptors have been a top-10 team defending the paint early this year, which is where Wagner has attempted 63.2% of his total shots this season. There is speculative value on the under, given the matchup and the fact that the Magic have other capable scorers who could provide a more efficient offense.
Brandin Podziemski UNDER 16.5 Points (-121, DraftKings)
Podziemski signed a 5-year, $110 million contract extension earlier this month, solidifying him as a core member of the Golden State roster in the immediate future.
He’s made the organization look good so far this season, averaging 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in his first 2 games played. That said, this is a tough matchup for Podziemski, who attempts most of his perimeter looks from above the break.
The Timberwolves have been the league’s best defense above-the-break early this season, holding opponents to a 27.8% field goal percentage on such attempts. Minnesota also has the size and length to force tough shots in the mid-range, which is another area Podziemski likes to attack.
We could see Podziemski’s lowest scoring output of the season tonight.
Dejounte Murray UNDER 6.5 Assists (-135, bet365)
Murray has dished 6+ assists in each of his first 3 games this season, but he hasn’t had more than 10 potential assists in any of those contests, suggesting that we could see some negative regression in the box score in the near future.
A lot of Murray’s assists this season have come in the pick-and-roll, which makes this a less-than-ideal matchup for him as a facilitator. Nikola Jokic often hangs out in the paint, which means Murray will likely need his teammates to convert on long-range shots to clear this number tonight.
