NBA Player Props Today – Friday, January 3, 2025
- Malik Beasley Over/Under 17.5 Points + Assists
- Jalen Brunson Over/Under 7.5 Assists
- Trey Lyles Over/Under 15.5 Points + Rebounds
Malik Beasley OVER 17.5 Points + Assists (-110, Bet365)
Jaden Ivey suffered a broken fibula in Detroit’s most recent game, which means he will be out for the foreseeable future. That could mean an expanded role for Beasley. According to RotoGrinders’ CourtIQ, Beasley is averaging 21.5 points and 2.9 assists per 36 minutes this season with Ivey off of the floor. In 3 games played without Ivey, Beasley has scored 26 points against the Bucks, 28 points against the Heat, and 26 points against the Jazz — attempting at least 17 shots in each of those games. He also had 4+ potential assists in each of those matchups. This is a great value.
Jalen Brunson UNDER 7.5 Assists (-110, Bet365)
Jalen Brunson is averaging 7.5 assists since the beginning of December, but he’s averaging only 12.5 potential assists during that stretch, making it doubtful that he will be able to continue posting such gaudy surface-level numbers. For context, Brunson averaged only 6.7 assists on 12.0 potential assists per game last season.
Oklahoma City leads the entire NBA in defensive rating across their last 8 games, making this a tough matchup for New York’s offense overall. Of the last 12 point guards to have an assists prop released against Oklahoma City, 8 of them have gone under. This evening, Brunson could end up being the latest casualty of that trend.
Trey Lyles OVER 15.5 Points + Rebounds (-120, Bet365)
Keegan Murray is once again listed as doubtful for tonight, which could mean another expanded workload for Trey Lyles. Lyles played 31 minutes on Wednesday against the 76ers and notably closed the first half while DeMar DeRozan was on the bench. Lyles shot the ball well in that game, added 2 steals, and he had a positive plus/minus off of the Kings bench as part of a tight rotation that saw only 6 players log 20+ minutes. The Grizzlies aren’t the most favorable matchup for Lyles, but he’s cleared this market number in 4 of 6 games in which he’s played 20+ minutes this season and 3 of 4 games in which he’s played 30+ minutes. This could end up being a worthwhile risk.
