NBA Player Props Today – Thursday, January 18, 2024

Jalen Brunson Over/Under 7.5 Assists

This has been an auto-bet for us since the new year, and we are going to keep betting it until Brunson gives us a reason to reconsider. Since RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley were shipped to Toronto, Brunson has recorded at least 7 assists in 6 of his 7 games, with the lone outlier coming against the 76ers, who allowed the fewest opponent assists per game in the 30 days prior to their matchup. Brunson returned from injury last night to dish 7 assists on 12 potential assists against the Rockets. Tonight, he gets an even more favorable matchup against the Wizards, who rank 27th in defensive efficiency and 30th in assists allowed per game during the last month. In King Jalen we trust.

Tyus Jones Over/Under 11.5 Points

Entering play on Thursday, Jones is averaging 12.8 points per game this season, including 13.6 points per game during the month of January. Most notable is the fact that Jones is averaging a season-high 12 field goal attempts per game this month. The increased volume has raised the floor for his scoring, with only 1 game of fewer than 11 points since January 5th. Playing the new-look Knicks, who have excelled defensively, is not the most favorable matchup, but it’s reasonable to expect his volume to translate to at least 12 points, even if he doesn’t have his most efficient performance of the season.

Immanuel Quickley Over/Under 19.5 Points

Since being acquired by the Raptors, Quickley is averaging 18.7 points on 14.7 field goal attempts per game, both of which are notable increases in production compared to his time with the Knicks. Notably, Quickley is averaging 18.7 points per game, despite shooting only 42.4% from the field during that stretch, a full 3% worse than his numbers prior to the trade. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against a Chicago team that ranks near the middle of the pack in defensive efficiency since Zach LaVine returned to the lineup on January 5th. In the last two weeks alone, Terry Rozier has scored 39 points against the Bulls, and Tre Jones has scored 30 points. Quickley is likely to get the job done for us if he has a reasonably efficient night shooting the basketball.
