NBA Player Props Today – Tuesday, January 2, 2024

Jayson Tatum Over/Under 26.5 Points

Tatum had an underwhelming month of December, averaging only 25.8 points per game, but his lack of production was driven more by a lack of efficiency rather than a lack of volume, something that figures to correct itself sooner rather than later. Tatum could experience positive regression as soon as Tuesday against the Thunder.

Last month, the Thunder ranked 22nd in opponent 3-point attempts from above the break, and they ranked 29th in opponent success rate on such shots. This season, Tatum is averaging 19.6 shot attempts per game, 8 of which are coming from that area of the floor. He should have every opportunity to get the job done for us in this spot.

Chet Holmgren Over/Under 17.5 Points

Entering play on Tuesday, Holmgren is averaging 18.9 points per game in 18 home contests. According to props.cash, Holmgren has eclipsed this market number in 9 of 11 home games since November 22nd, with him really beginning to come into his own during the month of December.

Overall, Holmgren has been much more comfortable on his home floor this season, shooting 6.1% better at home than on the road on nearly a full shot attempt more per game. Boston has been near the league average defending the paint and among the worst defenses in the NBA at defending above-the-break 3-point attempts, which comprise the majority of the shots Holmgren takes. This is a solid matchup for the big fella to start off the new calendar year.

Ja Morant Over/Under 26.5 Points

Morant has scored 30 points or more in 3 of his 6 games since returning from suspension and 20 points or fewer in the other 3 games, but Tuesday is likely to be another spike performance. The Spurs have been getting torched by opposing point guards of late, allowing 25 points to Scoot Henderson, 20 points to Collin Sexton, 39 points to Luka Doncic, 40 points to Damian Lillard, and 29 points to CJ McCollum, just to name a few players who have had success against San Antonio in the last two weeks. Tuesday is an important game for the Grizzlies, as they need every win they can muster as they try to crawl back in the Western Conference playoff picture. Morant should be plenty productive as a scorer tonight.
