NBA Preseason Primer: Wednesday, October 10th
Hello Grinders. Before we break down the slate, be sure to leverage the projections in LineupHQ, discussions in the RotoGrinders Discord chat and the Court Report live blog each weekday by SBK. The way I would approach NBA preseason is to use this article as a primer for the day and then rely on the Court Report if you can for the latest news right before tipoff. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s available or want to sign up, you can find information here.
This slate is a massive eight games, which I believe may be the largest one we’ve had so far this preseason. We’re already seeing some news trickle in about players resting, and I expect more slate-breaking news to filter in throughout the day. For the sake of my own sanity, I’m going to highlight the news we know so far and who I have the most interest in right now. I highly recommend checking out Court Report an hour before lock because this has the feel of a slate where a lot is going to change as the day rolls on.

Brooklyn Nets
Allen Crabbe has been ruled out. This is a big boost for Caris LeVert, who went off for 17/9/8 on Monday. We knew going into this preseason he’s been the talk of the town, and he’s backing it up. This isn’t a great matchup against the Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry and the Raptors, but I do think LeVert warrants tournament exposure on this slate given the way he’s playing.
From their last game, we learned here that Shabazz Napier and Alan Williams were out and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson traveled with the team but was also out. I have not seen an update on these three for Wednesday’s game so consider them questionable at best for now.
There’s an article here about the spacing the offense is trying to incorporate and it paid dividends in their last game. D’Angelo Russell scored 25 points and Jarrett Allen had a bounceback game with 17/9/4 blocks. I’m keeping both in my tournament player pool for today. Allen, Russell and LeVert all played between 32-35 minutes, which was a surprise. I have not seen any indications on expected minutes for the starters today but it’s something I will keep an eye out for. If we see these guys get another 30+ minutes, I will make sure to get exposure.
Outside of those three, I don’t love a ton of the bench options. Kenneth Faried was supposed to play last game but ended up resting. I thought that would open up minutes for rookie Rodions Kurucs but he only played seven minutes, so I was disappointed.
