NBA Prizepicks Predictions Today

Curry More/Less Than 30.5 Points

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players to ever grace basketball fans with his presence, but this market number is simply too high for him on opening night. Curry averaged only 29.3 points per game at home last season and 25.4 points per game at home the year prior. Curry has continued to play at an elite level, so many people fail to realize that he is 35 years old entering the 2023-2024 campaign, and he will be 36 years old in March. His minutes will likely be on the lower end tonight, and the absence of Draymond Green should limit his ability to get as many open looks from beyond the arc as he is used to having.

Davis More/Less Than 12.0 Rebounds

Playing at home last year, the Denver Nuggets ranked 3rd in the NBA in rebound percentage. This market number is likely somewhat inflated due to the fact that Anthony Davis eclipsed 12 rebounds in three of four games against the Nuggets in last season’s Western Conference Finals. However, Davis also played no fewer than 40 minutes in each of those games – something that is unlikely to happen on the opening night of the regular season. Davis maxed out at 23 minutes during the preseason, meaning he is likely in line for 32 minutes or so this evening against Denver. This is a tough matchup for him, making more than 12 rebounds a tall task.

James More/Less Than 19.5 Field Goal Attempts

Last year, we consistently recommended this look on LeBron James during the postseason, and it cashed at an extremely profitable rate. Heading into the new season, every symbolic gesture has been made to “pass the torch” to Anthony Davis as the leader of the Lakers offense. James let Davis speak first at media day. James and the Lakers front office reportedly met to put together a maintenance plan to keep the aging star fresh and healthy throughout the regular season. Moreover, James has attempted fewer than 20 field goals per game in 11 of his last 13 seasons. It is not far-fetched to expect James to take fewer shots this season than he has the past two years with Los Angeles, especially with a better roster around him.
