NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions for Tuesday (11/19)

Collins of the Jazz

I’m here to share a few of my (free!) top picks for today’s NBA slate on PrizePicks. Most of these predictions are heavily based on our projections, but we can also find an extra edge by watching games and recognizing certain intricacies before the market is able to react. Be mindful of the fact that the news cycle in the NBA is fluid, so the picks below may become more or less appealing depending on player availability. But rest assured that our NBA DFS projections team is making updates as soon as news breaks.

We have 6 games on the schedule as the NBA is set to tip off on 11/19, and we have some huge names (i.e., Nikola Jokic & Luka Doncic) officially listed as questionable as of Tuesday morning. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on PrizePicks this Tuesday evening.

If you want to play along but haven’t signed up yet, grab a special offer with our PrizePicks promo code “GRINDERS” to get $50 on a $5 entry! PrizePicks – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NBA matchups each day. The ball is then in our court to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.

I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage rates, projected pace, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NBA players might fare in categories like points, rebounds, and assists. Thunder vs. Spurs NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Thunder vs. Spurs NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Less Than 12.5 Rebounds + Assists

Perhaps this number is listed at 12.5 because Chet Holmgren is out for awhile, but I think any edge that SGA gains on the boards without Holmgren is negated by the lack of potential assists. SGA’s per-game averages this season (in 33.5 minutes) are 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds. And in 262 minutes with Holmgren off of the court this season, his per-36 averages are 6.71 assists and 5.48 rebounds.

I don’t think a matchup against the Spurs — even with Victor Wembanyama doubtful to play — is enough to push SGA over this PrizePicks projection. Even though it will probably be a sweat until the final buzzer sounds, I think SGA will stay just a bit below the 12.5 rebounds and assists.

Jazz vs. Lakers NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Jazz vs. Lakers NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

John Collins More Than 18.5 Points + Assists

Walker Kessler (ruled out again for tonight) has missed the last 4 games. In those games, Collins has averaged 21.5 points and 2.75 assists. Sure, maybe some of that is skewed by a few dominant games, but it is also noteworthy that Collins averages 17.5 points and 2.6 assists per game this season (the latter being a career high!).

The Lakers are certainly not a matchup to avoid, as they rank 25th in defensive rating this season. When it is all said and done later tonight, I think Collins will surpass this number on points alone, but I am throwing in the assists too for a little bit of a buffer.

Hornets vs. Nets NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Hornets vs. Nets NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

Dorian Finney-Smith More Than 4.5 Rebounds

With Nic Claxton (out tonight) missing the last 2 games, Finney-Smith has just missed clearing this number, pulling down exactly 4 boards in each game. However, both of those games were against the Knicks, who are top 5 in rebound rate in the early going this season.

And even though the Hornets aren’t far behind, I’m just not buying it. The Hornets had the 2nd-lowest rebound rate last season, and considering they are rolling out a “frontcourt” of Grant Williams, Miles Bridges, and Brandon Miller right now, I am going to go out on a limb and say that is far more who they are than what they have luckboxed into this season.

With the small bump in minutes and rebound opportunities still factoring in here for Finney-Smith without Claxton, I think we see him get at least 5 or 6 boards against this small Hornets team.
