What is your favorite correlation and why?

Notorious: Jacoby Brissett + Trey McBride or Michael Wilson – The old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies here. Brissett has started 6 games this season and has topped 20 fantasy points in all of them. His play has been a godsend for Trey McBride, who has 6 touchdowns in those 6 games. It doesn’t sound like Marvin Harrison is ready to play yet, which means we’ll get another week with Wilson as the WR1. In the last 2 games, he has caught 25-of-33 targets for 303 yards. The Cardinals have a nice matchup against the Buccaneers, who are a pass-funnel defense.

stevietpfl: Tyrod Taylor + John Metchie + Bijan Robinson – Taylor threw for a season high of 222 yards against the Ravens in Week 12. He added 19 rushing yards and 1 passing touchdown. It wasn’t a great fantasy day. The Falcons are allowing 16.6 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. At this price point, I’d be happy with 16-19 fantasy points from Taylor. Metchie had 6 catches on 7 targets in Week 12 and was the first read 31.3% of the time. They moved Metchie all over the field, and he led the team in routes run. I also want exposure to Adonai Mitchell, who had 69.4% of the team’s air yards in Week 12. With this pairing, I like the idea of paying up for running backs this week. Robinson has a 77.6% snap share, which is the 5th highest in the NFL. The Jets run defense has allowed 10 rushing touchdowns this season, which is 7th most in the NFL. I think Robinson has a high floor/ceiling combo against the Jets this weekend.

Krayton: Matthew Stafford + Puka Nacua – Stafford is a quarterback who rarely sees much ownership, but we get an elite game environment. The Rams are checking in with the highest implied run total, which is north of 27 points. Stafford actually has the most touchdown passes in the NFL, and I love pairing him with Nacua, who is a little bit cheaper than the more popular Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There is enough value with guys like Devin Neal and Kenneth Walker at the RB position to allow you to build around the more expensive combo of Stafford and Nacua.

ebeimfohr: De’Von Achane + Devin Neal – You don’t normally get a favorite correlation of two opposing running backs, but a gross, low-scoring slate calls for some unique angles. Achane should have his way with this Saints defense, whether on the ground or through the air. We know he’s one of the best fantasy assets at the RB position. But Alvin Kamara is also out, and Kendre Miller has been out for a while, so the Saints have just Devin Neal to lean on at RB. He was a talented prospect out of Kansas, and he can be effective both on the ground and as a pass catcher. That makes both these backs game-script proof on offenses that utilize their backs heavily in the pass game, so we shouldn’t fear playing them together this week.

ncorfield8k: Trevor Lawrence + Brian Thomas + Brenton Strange – On a slate where not much stands out, the Jaguars stack looks just a bit underpriced. Thomas is expected to return and could get back to the elite level we saw last year after a few weeks of recovery. Strange was expected to be a focal point of this offense and immediately saw 5 targets on 65.7% route participation in his return last week. The Titans have allowed the 3rd-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the last 5 weeks.

Davis Mattek: Brock Bowers + Ashton Jeanty – Imagine yourself in the shoes of the person calling plays for the Raiders this weekend. What is the simplest thing you could do to produce points and have the fans not hate you? Give the ball to the only good players you have on offense. Football is a really complex strategy game, but at the same time, a Brock Bowers target is better than an Ian Thomas one.

Jordan Vanek: Puka Nacua + Rico Dowdle – The Panthers are without a starting safety and their top cornerback, Jaycee Horn, so I love Nacua this weekend. Carolina plays a ton of Cover 3, and Nacua has been an absolute alpha against that coverage. For the Rams to stay in attack mode, I need Carolina to keep the game close and push the pace offensively. Dave Canales publicly apologized for abandoning the run last week, which signals a major commitment to the ground game this Sunday. That means a heavy dose of rushing attempts should flow through Dowdle.

Who’s your favorite contrarian play (below 10% pOWN%) and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
