NFL DFS WR/CB Report: Week 6
Wide receiver cornerback matchups are hardly the gospel for daily fantasy sports on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo!. Every situation is different and they haven’t always been used optimally over the years. That said, there are still situations on the extremes where we may want to target (or avoid) a player based on their direct opposition on defense. Each week we create a WR vs. CB Matchup Chart to help us bring extreme matchups to the surface. We will now dive deep into the matchups for daily fantasy football and see who we will need to consider adjusting our projections and projected ownership for in this upcoming slate.

If there is a theme for the Week 6 matchups that you will see below, I will give you one word: speed! Let’s jump right in so you can see who is sticking out, and more importantly, why.
NFL DFS WR vs. CB Report for Week 6
Calvin Ridley
Likely CB: Cameron Dantzler
WR Rating: 72.55
CB Rating: 54.39
CB Yards Per Route Allowed: 1.37
CB QB Rating Allowed: 125
Ridley tops our WR vs. CB Matchup Chart for Week 6. A lot of that has to do with just how good Ridley is. For example, his 72.55 WR Rating is the best on the entire slate. And I know that Julio Jones has been out for a few games—and that Ridley was basically a ghost in Week 4—but Ridley has amassed at least 10 targets in four of his five games. It’s hard to get away from that kind of volume.
And it’s even harder when the individual matchup is so good too. Dantzler has the 12th worst CB Rating in our Matchup Chart. The 125 Cornerback QB Rating is the sixth worst on the slate. As such, Ridley is going to be a great option this week, regardless of whether Julio sits or plays.
DeVante Parker
Likely CB: Blessuan Austin
WR Rating: 66.47
CB Rating: 54.20
CB Yards Per Route Allowed: 1.04
CB QB Rating Allowed: 89.58
Parker is next on our Matchup Report, and the main thing that stands out to me when digging a little deeper here is the difference between Parker and Austin in speed.
As you can see from the chart, Parker has a 109.5 WR Speed score (14th highest). Austin, on the other hand, has an 80.7 CB Speed score. There are only four cornerbacks on that entire chart who have a worse CB Speed score than Austin.
Considering that Parker leads this team in market share of air yards (24.8% according to our Premium Usage App), it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him get behind this defense for a long touchdown. Heck, he might even get two!
Will Fuller
Likely CB: Malcolm Butler
WR Rating: 68.46
CB Rating: 56.28
CB Yards Per Route Allowed: 1.75
CB QB Rating Allowed: 87.69
Remember when I said up above that only four cornerbacks on our entire Matchup Chart have a worse CB Speed score than Blessuan Austin? Well, guess who is one of those guys? That’s right, Malcolm Butler!
Butler checks in with a 77.5 CB Speed score, which is the third worst on the slate. Factor in the 105.3 WR Speed score for Fuller (which is within the Top 20), and I envision this going quite poorly for Butler on Sunday.
Deshaun Watson has made it clear that Fuller is going to be his top guy. Even when Brandin Cooks saw 12 targets in Week 5, Fuller still saw eight. He has also scored a touchdown in three straight games and even had one narrowly taken off the board last week after a review. Everything seems to be adding up for Fuller to have another big performance in Week 6.
