After going 10-6 in both Week 1 and Week 2, we delivered a 15-1 Week 3 performance. We regressed slightly in Week 4 due to some late-week injuries and a few very surprising upsets, but rebounded for a strong 13-3 outing, including hitting each of our top 10 confidence plays in Week 5. We stayed hot with a 9-5 record in Week 6 and a 10-3 showing in Week 7. We had a disappointing 8-7 showing in Week 8. Despite three major upsets in Week 9, we still managed to post a 9-5 record. We will look to keep the good times rolling as we reveal our Week 10 NFL Pick’em selections!

There are multiple formats for pick’em tournaments, including the picking against the spread and ranking selections in confidence intervals. In this column, we will touch on both the classic style and picking against the spread each week.

I will start by ranking each of my selections in order of confidence and provide reasoning on all of my top picks. Also, don’t miss my Week 10 if you’re still alive in your eliminator pools!

Colts (vs. Jaguars)

I have been one of the most vocal Carson Wentz critics over the last couple of years, but I have to give credit where it is due. Since the beginning of October, Wentz has a sterling 14-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He has not taken more than two sacks in any of his last seven contests. On the season, Wentz ranks ninth-best amongst qualified signal callers with a 59.1 QBR. Indianapolis is 4-2 in their last six games, with both of their losses coming in overtime to respectable opponents—the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans. The Jacksonville Jaguars shockingly defeated the Buffalo Bills in Week 9, but it was a shock for a reason. The Jaguars are still one of the worst football teams in the league. The Colts should win this game comfortably.

Buccaneers (vs. Football Team)

Tom Brady instills fear in opposing defenses on a weekly basis. At 44 years old, Brady leads the NFL with 25 passing touchdowns and is second in both QBR (68.9) and passing yards (2,650). Washington could be in for a particularly rough day this Sunday against a Brady-led Buccaneers team that suffered an embarrassing loss in their last game to the New Orleans Saints, and had a bye week prior to this matchup. Washington has arguably the worst pass defense in the entire NFL, having allowed 20 touchdowns against only four interceptions this fall—good for a 107.6 passer rating. Even if Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski are unable to suit up, Tampa Bay should roll in this one.

Rams (vs. 49ers)

The Rams have inexplicably played two horrible games this season—one in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals and last week against the Tennessee Titans. Still, this is one of the most talented teams in football, and is led by one of the most elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Matthew Stafford leads the league with 2,771 passing yards and a 69.7 QBR. He is also second in the league with 23 passing touchdowns. The San Francisco 49ers were run off the field at home last week against a Colt McCoy-led Arizona team that was also dealing with numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Expect the Rams to do what it takes to get back in the win column in this one.

Bills (vs. Jets)

Last week appeared to be a glitch in the system for the NFL. The Bills and Cowboys both lost as double-digit favorites against opponents who are unlikely to be playing this postseason. Josh Allen was outplayed by a combination of Trevor Lawrence and C.J. Beathard. The Bills totaled only 22 yards on nine attempts from their backfield. Fortunately for Buffalo fans, there should be plenty of opportunities to make up for last week’s disaster on Sunday against the New York Jets. New York has allowed 13 passing touchdowns against only one interception this fall—good for a 106.1 passer rating. Bettors should expect Josh Allen and company to play much better in Week 10 as they look to get back on track.

Cowboys (vs. Falcons)

The Cowboys made many pundits look foolish last week, getting dominated from the opening snap by a Denver Broncos team that was seemingly throwing in the towel on the 2021 season after trading star defensive player Von Miller. However, Dallas still has one of the most complete rosters in the NFL. The Cowboys offensive line is one of the best in the league. Bettors would be hard pressed to find an offensive unit with more talent at the skill positions. Trevon Diggs continues to be a tremendous liability defensively for Dallas, but his negative impact on the game should be mitigated against an Atlanta receiver corps devoid of talent. The Cowboys are the better team in this matchup on both sides of the ball. Dallas is a strong play this week straight up.
