NFL PrizePicks: Bears vs. Commanders Player Predictions for Thursday Night Football

sam-howell-800x480

Despite Justin Fields playing much better last week against a terrible Broncos defense, the Bears were still unable to come away victorious. They look to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, continuing the trend of mediocre and poor teams playing in prime time. However, the matchup featuring the Bears vs. Commanders still provides plenty of opportunities for profitable DFS Pick’em predictions for Thursday Night Football on PrizePicks, as the Bears’ defense has proven to be one of the very worst in the NFL.

Each week, I’ll deliver my top NFL PrizePicks predictions for Thursday, Sunday, and Monday Night Football. Use the PrizePicks referral code GRINDERS to receive a $100 deposit match to prep you for the NFL season.

PrizePicks Plays: Bears vs. Commanders

Sam Howell – 1.5 Passing Touchdowns

The Bears’ defense is atrocious. Plain and simple. They’ve allowed opposing QBs to score at least 3 TDs in three of their four games this season, with Baker Mayfield being the sole player to only throw for one touchdown, in a game where his team still scored 27 points. Howell has looked impressive to start the season and has plenty of dangerous weapons in Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and even Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas when they’re healthy. The Commanders are heavy favorites in this one, and I think they come away with an easy victory. My greatest concern is all the touchdowns are on the ground, but I’m confident the Washington offense led by Sam Howell will have no issue putting up points tonight.

Play: Howell – More Than 1.5 Passing Touchdowns

Darnell Mooney – 30.5 Receiving Yards

Chase Claypool is no longer with the team opening up additional run for Darnell Mooney. Last game without Claypool, Mooney had 4 receptions for 51 yards. This Bears offense isn’t special, but Mooney should be solidified as the #2 receiver for the Bears for the time being. I expect similar production going forward, and Fields will likely be throwing the ball a lot, having to come from behind. I was torn between going with Mooney having more than 2.5 receptions in this game, as opposed to his receiving yard total, but Mooney being a deep threat combined with the RotoGrinders projections having Mooney at nearly 37 receiving yards makes his “More Than 30.5 Receiving Yards” PrizePicks DFS Pick’em selection makes him among my favorite predictions on the slate.

Play: Mooney – More Than 30.5 Receiving Yards

Joey Slye – 1.5 Field Goals Made

Slye has eclipsed this mark in half of his games this season and has shown to be game script-dependent in a limited sample. However, it doesn’t take much more than logic to realize it makes sense for a kicker to attempt more field goals in games where they don’t have to overcome large deficits. When facing the Bills and Eagles, where the Commanders were trying to keep up in a shoot-out, Slye only attempted a single field goal in each of those games. Whereas when the Commanders faced easier opponents and held larger leads, they were more comfortable settling for field goals. I expect the Commanders to have a commanding (ha, puns) lead throughout this game, and Slye is one of my favorite DFS plays on any site tonight, including PrizePicks.
