NFL Week 6 Betting Picks – Redskins -3.5 at Dolphins, O/U 41

Let me start out by saying this is not going to be a good football game, but I am super excited to watch it and super excited to bet on it. What we have is two teams that are historically bad battling to see who is least bad. Let’s just call it the Toilet Bowl already. Both teams would be contenders to go 0-16 if they didn’t play each other, and this game could very well determine the number one overall pick.

First, lets start by breaking down the Dolphins on the offensive end. Honestly, there hasn’t been a lot of offense to break down. The Dolphins are averaging .5 touchdowns a game and have a negative points differential of 137 through four games (that’s over 35 per game). The Dolphins have only scored 26 points on the season which is 33% lower than the next closest team (NYJ) and 60% lower than the team in third, which just so happens to be the Redskins. Additionally, the Patriots have the same amount of touchdown receptions from the Dolphins as their receivers do. Every team they’ve played this season has scored more points in that game than the Dolphins have scored all season, and the of them have won by more points than the Dolphins have scored all season. The Dolphins have had some horrible matchups, but that doesn’t matter here. Put simply, the Dolphins offense is terrible. They do have some young pieces, but their line isn’t good, too many mistakes are being made, and the organization has no desire to win. Now, if you thought their offense was bad just wait to hear about the defense. Their defense has allowed the most points in the league by 11 points — keep in mind they have only played four games and the next two closest teams have played five. The Miami defense has given up a 137.6 passer rating to opposing quarterback. For reference, Wilson leads the league with a 126.3 passer rating. Every way you slice it, this Miami team has zero redeeming qualities.

While the Dolphins have been bad, Washington hasn’t played much better. They are currently winless and have allowed the 3rd most points in the league while scoring the 3rd least points in the league. At least their average losing margin is roughly 15 points less than the Dolphins. While the Redskins defense is one of the worst in the league, they do have some redeeming qualities on offense. Case Keenum returns to the helm this week and has had some 300 passing games, in large thanks to his No. 1 target Terry McLauren. The rookie receiver has been stellar through the first five weeks of the season.

My NFL Week 6 Betting Pick. If you haven’t realized it yet, I really like the Redskins in this game. This is the equivalent of a division 2 team playing a Division 3 team in college. They are both bad in comparison to the rest of the teams, but Miami is so far behind everyone else it’s ridiculous. The Redskins have a near 50% lower point differential that the Dolphins and Keenum may actually be able to shred this defense. The Redskins crush them here. Redskins -3.5 (use our FanDuel Sportsbook promo code to get these odds)
