NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Saturday, October 3

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Connor McDavid
Joda: Connor McDavid

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: One element that becomes illustrated perfectly on this slate is how much opponent quality matters. Vancouver is playing against Calgary tonight. Most sportsbook had these teams as the worst teams in the league coming into the season. Because of that, effectively everyone with a meaningful role in that game is a viable play. I especially like Jamie Oleksiak as a play. In his first 2 games with the Canucks, he played a huge 22.5 minutes a game, and he is very cheap at $2,700. While the Flames suck, the opposing team still blocks a lot of shots against them, which is great for a gigantic shot-blocking defenseman like Oleksiak. It is also worth paying attention to whether Jake DeBrusk plays in this game or not.

Joda: Once again, I’m leaning on the Oilers as the main stack. McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard keep getting more expensive, but Kasperi Kapanen at $3,300 makes it possible to grab at least one of them, maybe two. Minnesota’s top six is also in play against a Boston team that has been bleeding chances. They’ll start the unproven Michael DiPietro on the back end of a back-to-back. Same idea in Colorado, where Jordan Binnington is coming in on the second half of a back-to-back and into the altitude.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
