What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs — On this slate, if you want to get different from the field, I don’t think it will be too hard. The Oilers’ and Lightning’s top guys will monopolize the ownership. Both of those teams are good plays. One of thos reasons is because there are a number of teams that are on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, including both of their opponents. Two other teams that have underrated matchups are Nashville and St. Louis. Both of their opponents are on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, and St. Louis doesn’t have to face Connor Hellebuyck, while Nashville gets a Sabres team that is playing better, but I think their recent success has overrated their ability to keep the puck out of their net.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – There are several matchups worth targeting that will have me spreading my exposure around. Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov are at the top of the list, but I also think it’s worth getting some exposure to Dallas and the OTT/CBJ game in deeper tournaments. I also plan to spend up at goalie, as I don’t like the upside from any of the cheaper goalies on tonight’s slate.
Joda: Large-field GPPs — I plan to build around Tampa Bay and Edmonton, who have the rest advantage and the two elite spends tonight in Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid. There are plenty of ways to build around them, like Brandon Hagel and Zach Hyman, but I also like mixing in Oliver Bjorkstrand (PP1) and Vasily Podkolzin (PP1) for savings. I could see the defensemen Darren Raddysh and Evan Bouchard being overlooked as well, given their high price tags. We have some good PP1 values from other games, like Vladimir Tarasenko, Corey Perry, and Andrei Kuzmenko, to help build around the two superstars.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
