NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Tuesday, October 15

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

Moneyball16: Roman Josi
boggslite: Jason Robertson
Joda: Sam Bennett

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: Large-field tournaments – I will probably have a lot of lineups featuring the FLA/CBJ game. There are lots of good cheap plays for the Panthers with such a good matchup that it will be easy to fit a lot of them into my lineups. And on the other end, if the Panthers fail, Elvis Merzlikins will have great leverage over the field. A lot of these Blue Jackets skaters are strong plays as well. They’ll be facing a Panthers team that played yesterday and are missing Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk. Drawing Spencer Knight in net is an OK matchup at home for the Blue Jackets.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments – A number of early-season injuries and plenty of great matchups for typically unpopular teams really opens this slate up to a wide range of outcomes. We want to target teams playing against the Sharks and Blackhawks, but predicting where the scoring will come from on the Stars and Flames can be difficult, making this slate better suited to tournaments where the ownership is likely going to be spread out. I also want some exposure to guys like Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov, who are capable of breaking the slate anytime they step foot on the ice. I will take advantage of the soft early-season pricing, making sure I don’t go too heavy on one team or stack tonight.

Joda: Large-field tournaments – FLA1 will likely be heavily owned due to pricing, matchup, and full correlation on the team’s top power-play unit. Sam Bennett and Evan Rodrigues have seen massive boosts to their roles. While I will be targeting them aggressively in tournaments, I will be mindful of the pieces around them. There are some intriguing pieces from Columbus and Calgary projecting for low ownership who can be targeted for cheap stacks or one-offs. Edmonton’s top 6 has burned people to start the season, but Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson struggled down the stretch last season. Ownership for Connor McDavid and his minions should be tame considering it is the last game of the slate.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
