The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Canucks Offensive Outlook

5v5 (adj) (20 games): 52.54 CF/60 (29) | 55.07 CA/60 (26) | 1.88 xGF/60 (29) | 1.96 xGA/60 (30)

The low event Canucks will pay a visit to the Flyers tonight, and it’s a matchup that doesn’t bode well for the Canadian team. Vancouver has not produced great offensive results, and their one promising line is likely going to get the shutdown treatment from Philadelphia. Defensively the Flyers have been good this year, as they have been a lower event team and have limited allowances to opposing offenses. This isn’t a good setup for the Canucks.

The best line for Vancouver has been Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat, and Sven Baertschi. They will be tested tonight as they go up against the strong top line of Philadelphia, as well as some impressive young defenders. Combining Vancouver’s slow system with Philadelphia’s doesn’t point to a high upside night for this trio.

Vancouver’s secondary scorers will have a better matchup away from the Couturier line, but this is an overall low upside group. Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, and Jake Virtanen (or Loui Eriksson) should win their 5v5 matchups against the Philadelphia second line, and they have been seeing their time on ice trending up a bit. While the overall setup is still a bit unsettling, on a three game slate these are the types of line matchups that could pay off.

Vancouver’s third line will get a plus draw against a weak Philadelphia third line. The turn-back-the-clock line of Sam Gagner, Thomas Vanek, and Loui Eriksson aren’t a high-end option but Eriksson could at least be used as a one-off. Philadelphia’s third line has poor possession numbers so the potential is there.
