Primetime Parlay: Packers vs. Vikings Same Game Parlay Picks
Sunday night closes Week 17 with an NFC North matchup between the Packers and the Vikings. We build a same-game parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook for this matchup between Wild Card contenders.
With both teams at 7-8, a win is crucial to remain alive for a Wild Card spot in the NFC. The Vikings will start Jaren Hall as Minnesota continues to look for the hot hand at quarterback to sneak into the NFL playoffs. The Packers are injury-riddled but will have Jordan Love and both running backs active for the pivotal NFC matchup. Let’s take a look at betting odds, statistics, and injuries before building a same-game parlay ticket on FanDuel.
Packers vs. Vikings Same Game Parlay Preview
FanDuel Sportsbook posts the Vikings as 1.5-point, home favorites at the time of this writing. With a new quarterback starting for Minnesota, sports betting sites seem to like the Packers to win but want to give Minnesota the home-field benefit of the doubt.
The game total opened at 46.5 points but moved down three points. Per ScoresAndOdds, a wide majority of both betting tickets and dollars were placed on the over for this game. In all likelihood, a bulk of that action came in above the total after it dropped by multiple points.
On the injury front, the Packers are likely going to miss Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks in tonight’s matchup. Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, and Tucker Kraft will do the heavy lifting for the Green Bay passing offense. With that said, AJ Dillon will return, so both running backs will be available for Jordan Love. Defensively, the Packers lose Eric Stokes to injury and Jaire Alexander to a one-game suspension over last week’s coin-toss fiasco.
The Vikings lost T.J. Hockenson to a torn MCL and ACL. Also, edge-rusher, D.J. Wonnum is out with a torn quad. Minnesota will have Jordan Addison in the lineup. Jaren Hall will make his second start in the NFL. His previous start ended early when Hall suffered a concussion. Afterward, the Vikings turned to Josh Dobbs and Nick Mullens before deciding to go with Hall in Week 17. Hall has plenty of speed but will look to take advantage of the Packers’ weakened secondary.
The following are relevant statistics for tonight’s offenses:
Green Bay Offense
11th — 22.2 PPG
11th — 5.4 YPP
18th — 7.0 Passing YPA
10th — 4.3 Rushing YPA
Minnesota Offense
21st — 20.9 PPG
8th — 5.5 YPP
7th — 7.4 Passing YPA
23rd — 3.9 Rushing YPA
The Minnesota defense ranks in the top ten in the league concerning scoring defense and opposing yards per play. Both defenses are inside the second-third of the league concerning yards per pass attempt. However, the Vikings rank in the top five for rushing yards per attempt on defense while the Packers are in the bottom of the league.
Perhaps, Jaren Hall can take advantage of a weaker rushing defense. Will Jordan Love be able to put points up on the board against a very good defense? Let’s build an SGP for tonight’s NFC matchup.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Packers at Vikings
- Over 43.5 Points
- Jones Over 16.5 Receiving Yards
- Kraft Over 38.5 Receiving Yards
Over 43.5 Points
While the Vikings and Packers don’t inspire too much confidence on the offensive side of the football, the context of tonight’s game gives me hope for the over. The game will be indoors, so both teams will not contend with the elements. The Packers’ secondary is in shambles without two starting cornerbacks.
Finally, the high volume of betting action on the over throughout the latter part of the week leads me to believe the adjustment to this total went down way too much. Jaren Hall could be the spark the Vikings need against a more suspect defense.
Opening by going over the point total means we must write the rest of our script to correlate.
Aaron Jones Over 16.5 Receiving Yards
With the expectation that points will be scored on Sunday night, I need playmakers to matriculate the ball downfield. Aaron Jones is back in the fold for the Packers and should see plenty of opportunities in the absence of a couple of wide receivers.
Jones would likely receive some attention in the passing game without the injuries. Without Christian Watson and the emerging Dontayvion Wicks, other playmakers must handle the workload. I would anticipate that Aaron Jones sees 2-4 targets on Sunday night. While the Vikings’ defense is stout, Jones is explosive enough to make the most of those opportunities.
Tucker Kraft Over 38.5 Receiving Yards
Finally, we close our ticket with another beneficiary of additional opportunities on the Green Bay offense. Tucker Kraft continues to make the most of his opportunities.
Kraft has four catches in three straight weeks and netted more than 55 receiving yards in each contest. Kraft is likely to see 5-6 targets tonight against the Vikings. Even if the Vikings are a more efficient defense, six targets should get Kraft to at least four catches.
For both Kraft and Jones, I could see the merit in attacking their receptions market instead of receiving yards if you are worried about a strong Minnesota defense.
