NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Deandre Ayton More/Less Than 17.5 Points

*UPDATE: Ayton was downgraded to questionable this afternoon with “elbow tendinitis,” so buyer beware.

Deandre Ayton has turned things around impressively following a dismal start to the year. However, his hot run of form came to a screeching halt on Wednesday when he put up just 8 points and 7 rebounds in 26 ineffective minutes during the Blazers’ blowout home loss to the Clippers. Tonight, he’ll look to bounce back when the 2 teams square off again in the PNW.

Needless to say, there’s blowout risk again here with Portland listed as a 13.5-point underdog as of this writing. Jerami Grant is expected to miss again, which will naturally raise Ayton’s usage. In fact, Ayton (+4.3%) gets the biggest usage hike of any Blazer with Grant off the court.

Ayton only took 10 shots in the last meeting, which was his fewest in a game since the end of February. I’m not sure what that was about. Maybe he was forced to sleep on the air mattress on Tuesday night or something. Regardless, the former No. 1 overall pick is still contributing an impressive 24.1 points per game so far this month. I like him to bounce back here in a rematch of Wednesday’s game.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander More/Less Than 51 Fantasy Points

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander may not win MVP this season, but he does have a case. Regardless, an MVP is pretty clearly in his future if the Thunder continue their upward trajectory. So far this season, the ex-Clipper is averaging nearly 31 points per game while contributing 5.6 rebounds and a career-best 6.4 assists per game.

The Thunder get a favorable draw on the road in Toronto tonight in SGA’s hometown. The Raptors have been among the league’s worst defenses since they blew it up prior to the trade deadline, and they’ll be particularly shorthanded tonight with Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Jakob Poeltl again missing from the lineup.

Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t going to find much resistance here. OKC is a massive 17-point favorite, but SGA should have plenty to do with it if the Thunder do win it going away. He’s going to feast in this one.

John Konchar More/Less Than 0.5 3-Pointers

Just what you wanted to see, a John Konchar square. You’ll never believe this, but the Grizzlies are going to be shorthanded tonight when they take on the Spurs in San Antonio. Desmond Bane and Vince Williams are doubtful. Jake LaRavia, Scotty Pippen, and Konchar are all listed as questionable, while Luke Kennard, Lamar Stevens, and a host of others are out. Obviously, you’ll want to make sure Konchar is actually going to play before you get too excited about this one.

If Konchar does suit up, he’s going to have to play quite a few minutes by default. Konchar, Pippen (Q), Joradn Goodwin, and DeJon Jarreau are the only guards left standing. We have Konchar projected to start and play 32 minutes, and there’s room for even more if Pippen is a no-go.

Konchar isn’t a major source of usage for the Grizz – his 9.98% usage rate is among the lowest in the sport – but he is shooting better than 37% from 3-point range this month on an average of 2.7 attempts per game. This one could be a real sweat, but the plus matchup against a porous Spurs defense leads me to think we’ll get at least one successful triple try from Konchar tonight.
