We’ve got 3 games on the board for Monday night. The Cavs will look to extend their series lead to 2-0 at home over the Magic, while the Knicks (vs. Sixers) and Nuggets (vs. Lakers) will also try and hold serve.

NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Paolo Banchero More/Less Than 12.5 Rebounds + Assists

The Magic struggled considerably on offense in Game 1, which probably shouldn’t be a surprise. Orlando finished just 22nd in offensive efficiency during the regular season, and this is a young roster without a lot of playoff experience. The Cavs have also been among the league’s most suffocating defensive outfits over the past couple of years. The Magic’s 83 points on Saturday were the fewest of any team over the weekend.

But, today is a new day. Paolo Banchero put up a decent line in his first taste of the NBA Playoffs, finishing with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists on 9-for-17 shooting from the field. He also played a team-high 41 minutes and should be good for 40 minutes a night for as long as Orlando is alive.

Interestingly enough, the numbers Paolo posted in Game 1 were almost identical to his regular-season averages. He’s upped his game so far this month, however, as he’s averaging 24 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists since the calendar flipped to April. The matchup is far from ideal, but I like Banchero to stuff the stat sheet again in Game 2.

Nikola Jokic More/Less Than 26.5 Points

The Nuggets looked a little sluggish for most of the 1st half on Saturday before they roared back and ultimately won the game without really breaking a sweat. Across 39 minutes of action, Nikola Jokic posted 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists, as the Nuggets beat the Lakers for approximately the 90th consecutive time.

Anthony Davis is a solid rim protector, but he’s simply not big enough to give Jokic much trouble. It’s hard to blame AD, of course, as there isn’t a player in the league capable of slowing down the soon-to-be 3-time league MVP. Jokic averaged a triple-double in last year’s 4-game sweep of LA in the Western Conference Finals, and he’s averaging 30 points across 4 meetings this season (including playoffs) against the Purple and Gold.

Denver doesn’t necessarily need Jokic to serve as the primary scorer with Jamal Murray also cooking the Lakers on a nightly basis, but 26.5 points looks like a fairly low expectation for the big man.

Anthony Davis More/Less Than 15.5 Rebounds + Assists

The Nuggets’ triumph was the story in Game 1, but Anthony Davis had a stellar game of his own. The oft-injured big man was out there for a whopping 45 minutes and finished with 32 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks in a losing effort. Denver was the only team in the league against whom Davis failed to average at least 10 rebounds during the regular season, but he also didn’t play 45 minutes in any of those games.

Is it insane to think Davis can continue to play that much? Probably. He hasn’t exactly been an ironman over the years, but the Lakers also can’t really afford to keep him on the bench. Darvin Ham maybe trusts 6 players on his entire roster, and AD is the only healthy big on the team. With Jokic on the other side, Davis simply has to play. In related news, we have him projected to be out there for 42 minutes in Game 2.

Davis isn’t a major source of assists, but I think he can lead us to glory on rebounds alone here.
