PrizePicks NBA Player Picks Today: Top Plays for December 16th

trae-young-800x480

We have an exciting 9-game NBA DFS slate tonight for Saturday, December 16th. PrizePicks has introduced a new format for their NBA DFS Pick’em game, with brand new “Demons” and “Goblins” (is it still Halloween?) plays that indicate modified payout structures up to 100x. That means each of the plays will have options to go higher or lower than they are otherwise projected. I’ll indicate my confidence rate with each pick to help you dictate whether or not you want to capitalize on a Green Goblin (Spidey SZN!) with a lower payout and easier projection to hit or a Demon that has a higher projection as well as an increased payout.

If you’re new to the site, be sure to take advantage of our special PrizePicks promo code. With the code “GRINDERS,” you can claim a 100% match bonus on your first deposit of up to $100.

Remember, you can also keep tabs on the best PrizePicks picks of the day with our Fantasy Pick’em Tool. We’re constantly updating this throughout the day to account for the latest news, but there’s still value to be found earlier in the afternoon as well.

NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Donovan Mitchell – More Than 3.5 3PT Made

I wanted to ensure I took Donovan Mitchell somewhere on my NBA PrizePicks card tonight. Unfortunately, they did a very good job of putting his projections as high as possible in this amazing matchup. Not only do the Hawks play fast, but they’re also terrible defensively, leading to the Cavs having an implied total better than 10 points higher than their season average. Additionally, they’re without both Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, the two highest-usage players on the team outside of Mitchell. Thankfully, there’s one specific spot we can take advantage of the matchup tonight. Donovan Mitchell is projected for 4.4 3PT Made tonight and is my favorite way to get exposure to the Cavs star.

Trae Young – Less Than 32.5 Points

While this is a massive pace-up game for the Cavaliers, it’s the opposite for the Hawks. Either someone at PrizePicks knows something we all don’t, or they totally fell asleep at the wheel. The Hawks’ implied team total is 4 points lower than their season average, and Trae Young is averaging 27.7 points per game this season. He projects for 27.4 points tonight in the RotoGrinders projections, well below his expectation on PrizePicks. This projection on PrizePicks makes no sense at all and is my favorite NBA prediction of the night.

Jarrett Allen – More Than 28.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Can you tell that the Cavaliers vs. Hawks is my favorite game to target tonight? It’s just such an amazing spot for Cleveland that I can’t help myself. The RotoGrinders projections have Jarrett Allen for 31.1 Points + Rebounds + Assists tonight, which is a fairly nice differential, but I think he’s going to absolutely smash this number. The Hawks play a center on the court for 48 minutes a game, and Allen could easily see a season high in minutes tonight if this game stays close. He projects for better than his PrizePicks number, but I think Allen could end up with one of his strongest games of the entire season.
