NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today
Keegan Murray More Than 2.5 Made 3-Pointers
Tonight’s clash between the Hawks and Kings in Atlanta is clearly the best offensive environment on the slate. This game features an over/under of 251.5 points and a 1-point spread, which indicates we have legit shootout potential here. These teams are both top-8 in pace and bottom-8 in defensive rating this season, so we should see plenty of points on the board in this one.
The Hawks are conceding more than 13 made 3-pointers per game on the year. That should be music to the ears of the Kings’ Keegan Murray, who has been letting it fly all season. The second-year forward is averaging 2.6 made 3s on 7 attempts per game this season. That 36.6% conversion rate is actually lower than last year’s 41.1% mark, so perhaps he’s due for some regression moving forward. The good kind of regression.
The volume alone is enough to make Murray look like a good candidate to top 3 made 3-pointers in this one. Given the expected pace here, we could easily see Murray hoist more than his average of 7 triples, as well.
- Play: Murray – More Than 2.5 Made 3-Pointers
Domantas Sabonis More Than 7.5 Assists
Let’s stay in the same game, shall we? It feels like the Kings have been worse than they were last year, but their 17-12 record is similar to what it was last year at this time when they were one of the league’s most pleasant surprises. Sacramento is a 1-point road ‘dog in Atlanta tonight in that aforementioned potential shootout.
De’Aaron Fox is the Kings’ point guard, but it’s Domantas Sabonis that actually leads the team in assist rate this season (32.2%). In fact, Nikola Jokic is the only non-guard averaging more dimes per game than Sabonis’ 7.4. So far in December, Sabonis has been doing even more dishing, as he’s upped his assist average to 8 per game thus far this month.
Given the number of possessions we can expect for both teams here, Sabonis is certainly in a good spot to hunt for another triple-double. That’s a feat he’s accomplished in 2 of the last 3 and 3 of the last 5 overall.
- Play: Sabonis – More Than 7.5 Assists
Isaiah Hartenstein More Than 1.5 Blocks
The Knicks’ defense has predictably fallen off a cliff since Mitchell Robinson went down with a season-ending injury. Isaiah Hartenstein is a very good backup center, but he’s not quite the defensive presence Robinson is. Still, Hartenstein has been thrust into a much bigger role with both Robinson and Jericho Sims out injured.
I-Hart is averaging a shade under 1 blocked shot per game this season, but he’s predictably done more damage on that front since his minutes increased. Hartenstein is up to 1.7 blocks per game in December, and his playing time has been on the rise. He’s playing north of 29 minutes a night this month, and he’s logged at least 33 minutes in 3 of the last 4 games.
Tonight’s opponent, the Magic, have been a nice story this season, but they will allow some blocks. Orlando is getting an average of 5.3 shots rejected per game, which is among the highest marks in the Association. Hartenstein has racked up multiple swats in 7 of his 12 games played so far this month.
- Play: Hartenstein – More Than 1.5 blocks
