PrizePicks NBA Predictions Today
Devin Vassell More/Less Than 19.5 Points
Vassell isn’t the face of the Spurs’ rebuild, but San Antonio does seem to have found a keeper in the former lottery pick. He is averaging a career-best 19 points per game this season on solid 47% shooting from the field and 37% shooting from 3-point range.
Tonight, the Spurs will head to Dallas for an intrastate rivalry clash with the Mavs. Vassell still generates healthy usage for San Antonio (23.5%) even with Victor Wembanyama carrying a heavy load offensively. If anything, Wemby’s arrival makes life easier for Vassell, as he doesn’t have to be the go-to guy in this offense.
The Mavs defense has improved since the beginning of the season, but they’re still a middling 20th in defensive efficiency overall. Vassell should see mid-30s minutes if the Spurs can keep the score respectable, so I like his chances of topping 19.5 points here.

James Harden More/Less Than 43 Fantasy Points
The Clippers will wrap up the first half of their season tonight in San Francisco, where they’ll face the Warriors. LAC won’t be at full strength for this one, however, as the team has already ruled Kawhi Leonard out with an adductor injury.
Needless to say, Kawhi’s absence will open up some extra usage for Harden, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook. Harden certainly isn’t the usage monster he was during his heyday in Houston, but he does still enjoy a solid 4% usage boost with Leonard on the bench. Golden State is also no longer a defensive juggernaut, as the Warriors are just 17th in defensive rating this season.
Harden also has a team-best 1.38 FP/minute rate across a sizable 458-minute sample on the season with Leonard off the floor. This game has a tight spread (LAC +3), so we’re projecting Harden to see a full 38 minutes of burn. I’m expecting a big night out of The Beard with the Clippers missing their leading scorer.

Amen Thompson More/Less Than 20.5 Points + Rebounds
The Rockets drafted Thompson 4th overall in the most recent draft knowing he’d have a learning curve at the NBA level. Thompson entered the league as a lackluster shooter, but his athleticism and playmaking skills were tantalizing enough to make him one of the better prospects in a deep draft class. He got off to a slow start in a low-minute role, but he’s suddenly playing heavy minutes with Fred VanVleet missing from the lineup.
Thompson has played at least 32 minutes in each of the last 4 games as the Rockets starting point guard. His ability to stuff the stat sheet is impressive, but what stands out the most is his rebounding. Thompson has grabbed at least 9 boards in each of those 4 outings, with 10+ in 3 of them.
He should feast on the boards again tonight against a Grizzlies team ranked 2nd-to-last in the league in rebounding rate. Getting buckets around the rim won’t be a breeze with Jaren Jackson patrolling the paint, but 20.5 combined points and rebounds for Thompson in this spot looks a tad low given the high activity level with which he plays.
