Karl-Anthony Towns More/Less Than 20.5 Points
Karl-Anthony Towns missed the T-Wolves’ blowout win over the Spurs on Tuesday for personal reasons, but he’s expected back tonight when Minnesota welcomes the Memphis Grizzlies to town. It’s been a magical season for the upstart Wolves, and Towns is no exception. The former No. 1 overall pick earned an All-Star nod, and with good reason. KAT is averaging 22.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists per game on remarkable efficiency from the field.
The Grizzlies are still a respectable 9th in defensive efficiency this season, which is actually remarkable considering the injuries they’ve dealt with all year. KAT has also struggled relative to his standards in the 3 previous meetings with Memphis this year. The Grizz have held Towns to an average of 18.7 points per game. However, we can attribute that to blowouts. Minnesota has won each of those games by a margin of at least 15 points, and Towns failed to crack 30 minutes in any of them.
Tonight’s matchup certainly features the risk of a blowout, especially considering the Wolves are 12-point favorites. However, there’s at least a chance Minnesota could be a little thin for this one. Anthony Edwards left last night’s game briefly with an injury, and he’s officially questionable tonight. Ditto for Rudy Gobert, while Kyle Anderson is out. The Grizz also have the rest advantage here, so I like their chances of keeping this one more competitive.
If we get closer to a full allotment of minutes for Towns – especially if Edwards sits – he should have little trouble breezing past 20.5 real points.

PJ Washington More/Less Than 19.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
The Mavs did PJ Washington a favor by liberating him from Charlotte earlier this month, but he’s taken some time to acclimate himself to his new situation. Washington’s addition gives the Mavs some much-needed depth in the frontcourt, and Jason Kidd wasted no time throwing him right into the starting lineup.
One issue is it’s presumably tough to find an offensive rhythm when you’re spending so much time sharing the floor with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Dallas’ All-Star guards soak up tons of usage. We’re only dealing with a 6-game sample, but Washington’s usage since coming to Dallas is all the way down at 14.8%. His scoring average has predictably dipped from 13.6 with Charlotte to 8.5 with the Mavericks, though he is still grabbing 5 rebounds a night.
Dallas gets a favorable draw tonight against a struggling Raptors defense, but 19.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists still looks a little lofty relative to what Washington has been supplying since the trade. He’s topped that number just once as a Maverick thus far.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope More/Less Than 11.5 Points + Assists
Taking Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to score more than any number of stats is a grind. While he’s been a respectable pro for quite a while, KCP is a much better real-life player than a fantasy commodity. The Nuggets’ swingman is averaging just 9.9 points and 2.3 assists per game on the year, which sounds about right. He’s there to defend on the wing and knock down whatever open 3-point looks his teammates generate for him. Simple enough.
Denver gets a nice matchup at home tonight against the Kings. Sacramento hasn’t been the stingiest defensive teams over the past couple of years since Mike Brown took over, and Denver’s 119.25 total is among the highest on the board. The Kings’ foes are averaging 13.3 made 3-pointers per game on the year, which is the 9th-most in the league.
KCP’s limited usage will make this a sweat, but I like the spot enough to have faith he can get there.
