Rise & Grind: Tuesday, April 7th
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.
In Case You Missed It
We are the Champions – In college hoops, Duke knocked off Wisconsin to claim the National Championship. Duke rode excellent performances from three future 76ers freshmen including Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor, and Justise Winslow. In the end, the Blue Devils’ youth outperformed the more experienced Badgers team. Whether you like Duke or not at least we can all agree it’s a good thing Kentucky didn’t win. We can agree on that, right?
FAWBC Qualifier Freeroll – Want to win a free $109 FantasyAces World Baseball Championship (FAWBC) qualifier ticket? You will have that opportunity tomorrow if you have a FantasyAces account tracked to RotoGrinders. If you are already an account at FantasyAces through RotoGrinders check your email for the link. The top five finishers get a $109 ticket but anyone who beats DB730 also gets $5 in FantasyAces credit. If you don’t have a FantasyAces account yet, simply sign up through the RotoGrinders link and you can participate. For more information check out this forum thread.
Opening Day Recap – There were 29 dongs hit yesterday. Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez both hit double dongs. Cole Hamels allowed the most dongs of any pitcher with four. Jose Abreu had the longest dong at 439 feet, while Hanley Ramirez had the shortest at only 350 feet. The top stacks were Colorado, Boston, Kansas City, and Oakland. Not necessarily in that order. The award for biggest disappointment goes out to the entire Brewers offense. The Brewers were the consensus top stack going into the day, but managed zero runs on eight hits without a single extra-base hit.
Big Winners – Congratulations to dleepi01 for taking down the DraftKings Slugfest. Also placing in the top 13 were Grinders mford108, boggslite, bales, and grinderscal. In the Perfect Game, beepimajeep claimed second and third while bales took first and second in the High Heat. Over on FanDuel, new RG contributor SamENole dominated by claiming first and second in the Monster, as well as sixth in the Grand Slam. For the rest of yesterday’s links visit this forum thread.
On The Menu
NHL Tonight – This week offers a DFS all you can consume buffet. We start things off with an appetizing nine-game NHL slate. While I could tell you to simply load up on Penguins tonight, that’s probably not the type of advice you come here for. Think it over anyways, but if the Penguin stack doesn’t interest you, check back for our NHL Daily Plays.
NBA Tonight – Once you finish snacking on some NHL line stacks, head on over to NBA. Notorious already has his First Look posted. I know what you are thinking, NBA was so last Friday, the prize pools have been basically cut in half. While that is true, there is still plenty of money to be made on this six-game slate. The usual Tuesday offerings will still be posted including the NBA Grind Down and Starting Five. If you are looking for #narratives tonight focus on team specific storylines. The biggest #narrative to watch is the Heat/Hornets battle of the walking wounded. In what basically amounts to an elimination game, Miami barely has eight healthy players. Charlotte isn’t doing much better on that front, as they could be without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller, and Al Jefferson. Fire up the #YoloStack in this game and move on to looking up BvP, splits, and weather for your MLB teams.
MLB Tonight – By my estimation, there was close to $300K in overlay across the industry yesterday. The sites seem undeterred though as the prize pools have only been scaled back mildly. As they say, “if you build it they will come”. MLB offers an enticing eight-game slate. Notorious was so excited for this slate that he has already posted the MLB Grind Down. Later today, look for all the staple items of our MLB content including Daily Pitcher Breakdown, Hitter Breakdown, GPP Plays, and the Six-Pack. Also, be sure to check out the great offerings for incentives subscribers of which there are too many to mention.
PGA This Week – As you may be aware, someone will walk away one million dollars richer this weekend. For only $20 that person could be you. To put the million dollar prize in perspective, I would like to point out that the actual runner-up in the Masters will only receive $972,000. That means the lucky winner of the Millionaire Maker will get paid more than the golfers who carried him or her to that prize. If you want a piece of that action, join any of the many milly-maker satellites in the lobby across multiple sports. Teams lock Thursday at 6 AM. Gibbathy and Notorious will have their expert picks posted for DK incentive subscribers later tonight.
GrindersLive Tonight – Go ahead and block out your entire late afternoon and early evening schedule. Today is a rare day on GrindersLive, as there will be four shows discussing four separate sports. Things kick off with the Daily Fantasy Face-off at 330 ET with Pepsi7 and boggslite. After that, CrazyGabey and FABC champion RadThad will break down tonight’s NBA slate on the Daily Fantasy Happy Hour at 430 ET. That will be followed by the flagship show “GrindersLive” at 530 ET, on which Dean78904 and Al_Smizzle will break down tonight’s MLB slate. After lineups lock, be sure to come back and catch STLCardinals84, Gibbathy, and DevoPoker for an hour of PGA analysis and all the picks you will need to win a million dollars.
Good luck out there tonight Grinders. See you tomorrow!
