Seahawks vs. Lions Same Game Parlay Picks and Predictions for Today

The Detroit Lions are favorites at home on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle brings an undefeated, aerial assault on the road to Detroit, as Geno Smith and company continue to compile passing statistics. Despite a loss against a game Buccaneers squad, the Lions look to be a serious playoff contender early in the season. A victory against the Seahawks would keep the Lions on that trajectory.

Seahawks vs. Lions Same Game Parlay Preview

The Lions are 4-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The spread opened at that number and moved down before turning right back in the favor of the home team. While the distribution of betting tickets on the spread are relatively even, the betting handle is skewed. ScoresAndOdds reports 64% of money bet on the spread fell on the Lions throughout the week, likely moving the line back towards Detroit.

The game total sits at 47 points on DraftKings. 60% of money and tickets were bet on the over. With a Detroit defense that stifles the run, bettors expect a dome shootout on Monday night.

The Lions should have Sam LaPorta back. LaPorta suffered a low ankle sprain in Week 3 but should play against the Seahawks. The breakout tight end has not offered much in 2024 and could be limited. Starting center Frank Ragnow will not play in Week 4. Ragnow is a great loss to a Lions offensive line that ranks in the top 10 in pass blocking thus far.

Kenneth Walker will return for the Seahawks on Monday night, but the Seattle defense could be hobbled. Byron Murphy will miss time, while Leonard Williams is questionable with a rib injury. Uchenna Nwosu has not played a regular season snap in 2024 but was seen at practice this week. Nwosu would be a massive addition to a defense that could be missing key parts.

Geno Smith ranks 4th in passing yards per game this season. The Seahawks rank in the top 10, with more than 34 passing attempts per game. The Seattle offense ranked in the middle of the pack with regard to passing attempts in 2023 and were a far more balanced team. With Walker returning, Seattle might try to control the clock more with both running backs.

Unfortunately, Detroit might not be the optimal team to commit to running the football as a strategy. Detroit ranks 2nd in yards per rush attempt on defense and ranked inside the top 10 last season. The Lions sell out to stop the run and have been torched by passing games dating back to 2023. Last season, Detroit ranked 31st, allowing 257 passing yards per game. Look for more of Geno and his receivers.

Last season, Detroit featured a balanced offensive attack that ranked 5th in scoring. This season, the Lions has started a bit slower but continue to run the ball effectively with their pair of talented running backs. Detroit averages 4.8 yards per rushing attempt with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. The Lions will need to use the running game to keep the Seattle offense off the field and protect their defense. Jared Goff and company continue to rank as a top-10 offense with regard to time of possession.

The Seattle defense has been middling against running backs but ranks 1st in yards per passing attempt by opposing quarterbacks. We could see plenty of attempts from Montgomery and Gibbs on Monday night.

Let’s scan some player props and build a same game parlay for Monday Night Football.

Same Game Parlay Picks for Seahawks vs. Lions

Geno Smith Over 251.5 Passing Yards

Geno has a lofty passing prop. However, in a dome and against this defense, we will open with this prop. The Lions sell out to stop the run but repeatedly get gashed by opposing passing games. Slot receivers, especially, have taken advantage of this defense, with both Cooper Kupp and Chris Godwin exploding against Detroit.

While the Lions might look to control the clock, the Seahawks have shown they are willing to let Geno throw the ball in 2024. The air might be the path of least resistance tonight. We will open with this prop and look to correlate with additional legs.

David Montgomery Over 63.5 Rushing Yards

Montgomery finds our second spot against a defense that will likely be missing key pieces up front. Potentially down two linemen, the Lions might err on the side of running the football repeatedly to steer clear of a strong passing defense.

Both running backs average more than 4 yards per carry for the Lions, but Montgomery remains the first option when the Lions look to possess the football. Montgomery has 51 carries to Gibbs’ 40, while Gibbs handles a greater portion of receiving opportunities. If the Lions can find a lead early, look for Montgomery’s number to be called a lot in the 2nd half.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Over 51.5 Receiving Yards

I alluded to the slot receiver success for offenses opposing the Lions in 2024. Cooper Kupp caught 14 passes for 110 yards, and Chris Godwin had 7 catches for 117 yards against this Lions defense.

The Seahawks are going to throw the football a lot and should throw it even more against the Lions. Smith-Njigba will spend most of his time in the slot and should find plenty of room to scamper in the secondary. The yardage prop is a bit less juiced than his receptions prop, so, we will go this direction.
