The Baseball Diaries: Thursday, June 18th
Welcome to the Baseball Diaries. This is a morning after review of my main team(s) on a designated site. I’ll go over the process that went into selecting the players, good or bad, in hopes you will find something in here that ultimately helps your team selection.
If you’re not trying to learn, then just kick back and read for the revelry. Sometimes the tilt is real…and highly entertaining for the observer. Below you’ll find one of my main FanDuel teams for Wednesday night.

Player Analysis
This was a cash game team that I played in a couple of tournaments, so I really needed to get the best pitcher on the board. I thought Kershaw was hands down the best guy with a great matchup at home.
I was not interested in any catchers last night, so I just found the best player I could. On paper, Gomes against a left-hander is a pretty good option for minimum price.
My number one target would have been Jose Abreu, but I was a little bit over the cap later on in this team, so I removed the White Sox first baseman and put in Chris Davis. I ended up getting the birdie.
This was the last guy I chose on this team. I didn’t have much money left, so I wanted to punt this position. I couldn’t afford the guys I really wanted, but it ended up working out well. Here I was basically just looking at a guy who’s pretty decent against left-handers and at home in a good spot in the batting order.
This spot comes down to Arenado or Donaldson. Since I used Donaldson on DraftKings, I went Arenado on FanDuel, just to make sure I spread things out a bit. These are two great third base options on almost a nightly basis.

Easily my favorite shortstop last night. He had a matchup with a bad pitcher in a park that has serious home run potential. I used him on both sites.
I really needed to get some exposure to the Astros, so I went cheap with Marisnick in the outfield. He ended up paying off. With Kershaw in here, there was no way to grab a guy like Springer.
Playing Kershaw on your team and then grabbing that expensive third baseman will make you have to save some money all over the place. One of those guys was Snider. He had a great spot in the batting order, was playing in a nice ballpark, had a great matchup and was minimum price. He had all those things work in his favor.
I decided to spend the $3300 on Tucker rather than take another minimum price outfielder and spend the $3200 on Howie Kendrick at second base. It ended up being a pretty good decision. Tucker is sneaky good and obviously had a great matchup at Coors.
