NFL Week 9 kicks off Thursday night as the Arizona Cardinals (3-4-1) host the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. Unsurprisingly, online sports betting sites list the 49ers as double-digit favorites heading into Thursday.

The San Francisco 49ers travel to Arizona less than a week after thrashing the Carolina Panthers 51-13. It was the 49ers most impressive win yet, proving they can dominate on both sides of the ball, and leaving no question that this San Francisco team has the talent to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

While the 49ers were dominating, the Arizona Cardinals were struggling to score against the New Orleans Saints. First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, riddled with injuries to the backfield, couldn’t find the end zone despite returning wide receiver Christian Kirk. Injuries, a porous offensive line, and a defense that is allowing more successful pass plays (51.16%, per GridironIQ) than any unit in the NFL is holding this team back. Really, it’s impressive the Cardinals have been able to squeak out three wins and a tie, all things considered.

There’s no one more talented on the defensive side of the ball for the 49ers than rookie defensive end Nick Bosa. The former Ohio State Buckeye had three sacks plus an interception against the Panthers. He’ll have plenty of opportunities to get at the quarterback Thursday night, as the 49ers have a sack rate of 11.39% and the Cardinals are dropping back 66.21% of the time — fifth-most in the NFL.

The Thursday Night Football Betting Picks

Ultimately, Nick Bosa and this 49ers defense will be too much for the Cardinals, even at home. I expect the 49ers to have their way with Arizona’s offensive line, putting pressure on rookie quarterback Kyler Murray. The Cardinals’ backfield looked lost last week, and even if David Johnson is active, Kingsbury will probably err on the side of caution when it comes to running him. They did acquire Kenyan Drake from the Dolphins before the trade deadline, but it’ll take more than a few days to learn Kingsbury’s spread offense, which is running plays at the fastest pace in the league. The Cardinals failed to reach the end zone on Sunday, and it wouldn’t shock me if that’s the case again.
