Tuttle's Take: Week 9

Having qualified for countless live finals, Dan Gaspar (MrTuttle05) knows what it takes to win in DFS. In this space each week, he’ll guide you through the lineup building process for both cash games and tournaments by going in-depth and giving out his “Tuttle’s Take” for every game on the main slate.

Notes:

Tuttle’s Take:

The big news of the week surrounding Detroit was the departure of Golden Tate to Philadelphia. Tate leaves behind a healthy 26.9% target share and 21.9% market share of air yards. Theoretically, this should mean an uptick in targets for Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr – the latter leads the team in market share of air yards by a wide margin with 39.6%. MJJ has also been the more steady red zone presence, which makes him the preferred option of the two. Passing volume as a whole has been down for the Lions as they look to #EstablishTheRun with Kerryon Johnson, but I do think both MJJ and Golladay are fringe cash game options.

Speaking of Kerryon, he saw a lot of the field in Week 8 and his expanded role should continue IF Theo Riddick is once again out for Week 9. Riddick’s status is worth monitoring as he would likely take over pass-catching duties if once again active, decreasing Johnson’s value on an increasing price tag. If Riddick is unable to go then Kerryon could be considered a secondary option.

Stefon Diggs’ status is worth monitoring as he was held out of practice with a rib injury on Thursday. If Diggs is healthy and active he’s one of the best point-per-dollar receivers available on this slate and a core option. If he’s unable to go, that should open up even more targets for Adam Thielen, Laquon Treadwell and Kyle Rudolph. Thielen is already priced up whereas there’s more meat on the bone for Treadwell and Rudolph. Rudolph specifically is someone who is already a fringe cash game option at a weak tight end position and someone who I would grab more exposure to if Diggs was unable to play. Even in Diggs’ absence, Treadwell would be best reserved for GPPs. As I like all the pass-catching options in Minnesota, I naturally think Kirk Cousins is a great play at the QB position. Cam Newton will almost assuredly be my cash game option around the industry, but Cousins is one of my favorite GPP options at the position.

Latavius Murray continues to be a secondary option for as long as Dalvin Cook as out. Touchdowns have helped buoy Murray’s fantasy production the last couple of weeks, but the workload has been there and this is a strong matchup for him, even with the Lions’ acquisition of “Snacks” Harrison.
