Week 4: Good Chalk, Bad Chalk

Aided by the first appearance of bye weeks and some key injuries occurring within the last week, Week 4 quickly lined up as “Chalk Week”. Using our powerful tool ResultsDB we saw a whopping 18 different players carry over 15% ownership in the DraftKings Milly Maker! (listed below)

With all of the chalk options above, it was tilt time early and often as some of the first touchdowns of the day were scored by the likes of Brandon Bolden, Trevor Davis, Ricky Seals-Jones, Foster Moreau, A.J. Brown, Ito Smith, Troymaine Pope, Devante Parker and Jack Doyle – all who were owned in less than 1% lineups in the DK Milly Maker.

After those early shenanigans, we saw plenty of nice DFS scores from some popular targets and the leaderboards started to take shape. However, it turns out that the highest-scoring game of the NFL season to date was still to come in the afternoon slate and its fallout would ultimately decide the winners and losers of NFL Week 4. Before we get to the results, here’s my Week 4 observations;

1) Being a Detroit Lions fan is easily the most frustrating aspect of my sports fan experience. You’d think I’d be numb to it by this point, but somehow they still find new ways to disappoint. (though props to Kecle on the ad-lib “hook and ladder” play)

2) How were some of these “Fill-in QB’s” ruled as the backups in the first place? Jacoby Brissett, Daniel Jones, Gardner Minshew II & Kyle Allen all played rather well once again and all but Brissett led their team to another victory.

3) We all know Miami is likely going to be discussed as one of the worst NFL teams of all time, but they’ve now been outscored 163-26 after a quarter of the season.

4) Keenen Allen, the highest owned player on DK and presumed #1 overall WR option today was an absolute non-factor. I haven’t dug into any numbers to back me up, but WR volatility seems at an all-time high this season.

User chris41658 bested 367,520 other lineups to bring home the $1,000,000 first-place prize in the FanDuel Millionaire Maker. The trio of Jared Goff, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp were likely the starting point of this roster build, but it needed huge performances from Chris Godwin, Nick Chubb and Leonard Fournette (and the NY Giants D/ST) to finish atop the leaderboard. Congrats on the life-changing victory!

User FourDouble reigned victorious in the DK Milly Maker, and did so in somewhat convincing fashion. The Goff, Kupp, Woods good for a solid 90 DK points and Chris Godwin ran-it-back from the other bench with 44.2 points at just 0.7% ownership. Other low-owned gems of Nick Chubb and Courtland Sutton helped set this lineup apart from the field. Congrats, FourDouble!
