The PGA Tour makes another stop with a treasure chest awaiting the victor. Quail Hollow hosts the Wells Fargo Championship after a single year’s hiatus. This time, though, the field is as strong as it has ever been with most of the top ranked golfers in the world playing. Rory is back with course history one can only dream of. Will he win this event again or will one of golf’s finest hoist the trophy at week’s end? Let’s get into this week’s betting picks.

2023 Wells Fargo Championship: PGA Golf Betting Picks This Week

Key Statistics

Unless mentioned otherwise, all strokes gained statistics will be referenced over the player’s previous 36 rounds on the PGA Tour.

Cameron Young +2000 (BetMGM)

Well, if you read our Wells Fargo Betting Preview, you would know that I thought Rory McIlroy and Max Homa were clearly two golfers to circle. Both have phenomenal course history and are in reasonable enough form to compete with this field. Having said that…

I can’t help myself. Cameron Young has been the apple of my eye for well over a year and my gut is telling me that this could be the week. A short price, indeed, but I can swallow the 20/1 knowing that this is the type of course we would love to have some action on Young. Quail Hollow demands excellent work off of the tee with distance being an added bonus. Besides Rory, nobody else on tour checks those boxes in this field as well as Mr. Young.

I have a healthy future on him for the PGA Championship but wouldn’t mind cashing in this week instead. We start our card with 1.25 units on Young and will be considering him heavily for a OAD selection.

Rickie Fowler +4100 (FanDuel)

Rickie Fowler made our betting preview at shorter odds and only improves with his odds over at FanDuel Sportsbook. His recent form speaks to a victory in the works and where better than a familiar course that has brought him a great deal of success.

A past winner at Quail Hollow, Rickie should be in the mix on the weekend. He has been checking all of the statistical boxes as of late and seems poised to reinsert himself as one of golf’s elite once he breaks through with his next victory. At this price, 0.60 units feels like a steal.

Keith Mitchell +7500 (PointsBet)

Keith Mitchell, like Cameron Young, brings maybe the most important statistical piece with him to Quail Hollow. His driving of the golf ball is second to none. His work off the tee has amounted to two excellent finishes at the last renditions of this event at Quail Hollow. With these odds, Mitchell is worth a sprinkle as an outright and surely must be a candidate for top finisher bets.

Over his last 36 rounds, Mitchell is third in SG: OTT in this field. He gained strokes putting in his 3rd and 8th place finish at this course. We need Keith to just keep it together around the green to compete on the weekend. His two T10 finishes were held back by losing strokes around the green for the week. Just play even with the field, Keith! Regardless, he is worth the 0.35 units on PointsBet. I will be likely mixing in a T10 and T20 finish for Mitchell in addition to the outright.

Taylor Moore +9000 (Caesars)

Finally, we sprinkle in a longshot even though I am not convinced someone this far down the board can beat the class up top. Taylor Moore backed up his win at Valspar with a good debut showing at Augusta National and an 11th place finish at the RBC. Moore is showing he can contend with the bigger names in golf and could be a factor given a few of the top names won’t play this weekend.

He is ranked 26th OTT but 6th in putting. Moore lacks a bit in approach game but as mentioned in our betting preview, Quail Hollow is one of the few courses where OTT matters just as much as approach. For 90/1, Moore is worth a minuscule bet but might be a better consideration for a top finisher bet given his recent form.
