Week 7
We have our smallest main slate thus far in Week 7, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plays to be found. Value plays abound at both RB and WR, which makes for a week where a lot of different configurations are in play. Let’s get to the picks.
Exploitable Situations
Todd Gurley @SF
I’ve been tending more toward contrarian plays in this column, so bear with me while we talk someone obvious. Gurley is a cash lock on both sites, but I’ll also be overweight in tournaments. The Rams have a slate-high implied total and are missing Cooper Kupp. Melvin Gordon, Saquon Barkley, James Conner, and Kareem Hunt are all off the main slate, which dramatically decreases the probability some other high-priced runner significantly out-scores Gurley.
His ownership will be huge. It’s not a bold stance to back him. But on a slate that projects to be lower-scoring from a DFS perspective, it’s worth emphasizing not to get cute. Gurley’s hit 25 DK points in every game so far this season, and when there are cheap options that can smash value around every corner, whether he will 3x his high salary isn’t quite as important of a question this week.
