Round 2 of the RotoGrinders fantasy football mock draft kicked off with TJ Zwarych taking Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb after he closed out the first round with Bijan Robinson.
However, the biggest trend of the second round was the run on elite quarterbacks. Dean Shavelson took Patrick Mahomes at 2.5, Andre Alford snagged Jalen Hurts (2.11), and Derek Farnsworth took Josh Allen to finish the round.

Round 2 Fantasy Football Mock Draft Expert Analysis
Pick 2.1 – CeeDee Lamb (TJ Zwarych)
Sleeper ADP: 11.4
“Lamb has had production increase each and every season he’s been in the NFL. His targets, receptions, yards, and touchdown production have all progressed each year and the young receiver should be due for another bump this season, as the Cowboys are set to play after and more pass-happy in 2023.” – TJ Zwarych
Pick 2.2 – Davante Adams (Kyle Murray)
Sleeper ADP: 15.4
“Adams proved his worth was not tied to Aaron Rodgers last year due to a massive 2022 season with Derek Carr and the Raiders. He now gets another year of the McDaniels system under his belt, and although he’ll have another new QB in Jimmy Garoppolo, I think there is enough proof here that we don’t need to worry about that. Adams accounted for 32% of targets last year, and with Darren Waller gone, another 30%+ target share is very much possible once again.” – Kyle Murray
Pick 2.4 – Derrick Henry (Justin Carlucci)
Sleeper ADP: 17.4
“It’s a little trickier with Henry in PPR formats, but there aren’t many running backs in football slated for a mega workload like him. Father Time catches up to everyone, and even though it’s creeping up on Henry, Derrick remains one of the best running backs in football. Diggs and Henry together give this fantasy roster two of the most consistent point scorers with high floors each week, while both have massive ceilings as well. Henry gets Houston twice in three fantasy playoff weeks – you can’t beat that! Henry is about a safe of a bet as you can ask for in round two.” – Justin Carlucci
Pik 2.6 – Garrett Wilson (Chris Prince)
Sleeper ADP: 19.5
“I’m stoked to get Garrett Wilson in the second round to pair with Austin Ekeler and give me nice balance moving into the third round. I’ve seen Wilson go in the first round in plenty of best ball drafts and he’s set up for a massive season as the primary weapon for Aaron Rodgers in New York.” – Chris Prince
Pick 2.7 – Jaylen Waddle (Charlie Wright)
Sleeper ADP: 21
“I was hoping Garrett Wilson would get to me, but Waddle is a nice consolation. In 12 full games with Tua Tagovailoa, Waddle posted 56 catches, 1,069 yards, and 8 TDs on 88 targets. If Tua can make it through the whole season, we could be looking at 1,500+ yards and double-digit scores for Waddle.” – Charlie Wright
Pick 2.8 – Tony Pollard (Nick Galaida)
Sleeper ADP: 24.2
“Is there a running back with more upside than Tony Pollard in 2023? Pollard will play on the franchise tag, so his motivation will be high with a potential new deal awaiting him. Dallas has every reason in the world to run Pollard into the ground before letting him walk in free agency to another team. Factor in the departure of Ezekiel Elliot and this is an easy second-round selection.” – Nick Galaida
Pick 2.9 – Nick Chubb (Erik Beimfohr)
Sleeper ADP: 16.8
“Chubb is one of, if not the single best actual runner at the running back position in the entire NFL. Playing behind an excellent offensive line, you know you’re going to get elite rushing production from him no matter the shape of the Browns’ offense. But with Kareem Hunt no longer around, Chubb has a path to elite fantasy upside with more opportunities to catch passes.” – Erik Beimfohr
Fantasy Football Tips & Takeaways
- The run on quarterbacks has begun! Elite quarterback builds are one of the many strategies best ball drafters are using on sites such as Underdog Fantasy (sign up with our Underdog promo code) and we’ve seen some of that parody carry over to our expert (traditional scoring) 12-team mock draft with PPR scoring. The ceiling of the quarterbacks with rushing upside is much higher than many quarterbacks that we saw in the league 15-20 years ago. Now, there are more than a handful who can score with their legs and rack up fantasy points, which makes them round-two investments.
- How far will Josh Jacobs fall? Justin Van Zuiden took Jonathan Taylor earlier in the draft just prior to the contract drama with the Colts unraveling. How will this situation play out? Who will take a risk on him in this draft? Jacobs currently has a Sleeper ADP of 20.7 and we’re already through 24 picks. Jacobs is fresh off a monstrous 2022 season that featured a boatload of touches – 340 carries for 1,653 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
