Primetime Parlay: 49ers vs. Cardinals Same Game Parlay Picks
Through thousands of simulations using ScoresAndOdds’ ParlayIQ tool we aim to create profitable same-game parlays across sports betting sites. We will examine stats, roster news, trends, player props, and betting odds across sportsbooks to find the best price for a fun primetime parlay sweat. Today, we build a Monday Night Football same-game parlay for the 49ers vs Cardinals.
The 49ers and Cardinals travel to Mexico City on Monday Night Football for a typical primetime divisonal showdown. Last season, the Cardinals swept the season series against the playoff-bound 49ers. Marking their first contest this season, the extremely hobbled Cardinals are coming off of a win with Colt McCoy under center. The 49ers beat the Chargers in primetime and look recharged and ready for a playoff run. Will the Cardinals have enough firepower to keep up with the 49ers?
Same Game Parlay for 49ers vs. Cardinals
The San Francisco 49ers are 10-point favorites “on the road” against the Arizona Cardinals at Estadio Azteco in Mexico City. FanDuel Sportsbook pegs the implied game total at 42.5 points. The total has moved down over the course of the week because of the rash of potential injuries for the Arizona offense. Similarly, the spread opened at -5.5 on November 8th and has climbed all the way up to the 10-point mark because of the uncertainty of the Arizona injury situation.
Before we dig in to Arizona injuries, the San Francisco side is pretty easy. Arik Armstead was questionable to play but won’t suit up this evening for the 49ers. He seems close to a return but won’t join the 49ers stout defensive line for Monday Night Football. For the Cardinals, oh boy…
Listing the players that are definitely active might be more effective for the Cardinals. I would recommend taking a peek at the injury report before making any decisions about bets or DFS lineups. That said, we do have very notable players on the fence for tonight’s game. Kyler Murray is questionable to play tonight but looking more on the doubtful side per recent reports but Colt McCoy is no longer on the injury report. The Cardinals can safely plug McCoy in but the weapons aren’t looking great.
Marquise Brown will not play tonight despite feeling closer to full health. DeAndre Hopkins is questionable. D.J. Humphries, one of the best graded pass-blocking tackles in the NFL, will not play. Humphries has not allowed a sack in 382 pass-blocking reps. The Cardinals offense will not be whole going into this game.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, that isn’t all. Byron Murphy, one of the, if not the, best cover corners in the NFL will not play tonight. A weakened offense and a weakened defense, you say? We normally would salivate at taking this many points in a divisional matchups. The Arizona injury situation is really testing that way of thinking.
Update: DeAndre Hopkins is available to play tonight.
Let’s work on a ticket after missing a second consecutive winning parlay by just one leg.
Same Game Parlay Picks – 49ers & Cardinals Props
Christian McCaffrey Over 37.5 Receiving Yards
Christian McCaffrey is surely going to grow in the San Francisco offense that is now rife with so many weapons. Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Elijah Mitchell in company might see a downtick in opportunities but the 49ers as a unit are going to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses for the rest of the season.
McCaffrey boasts 6 and 9 targets in his last two games in San Francisco. We shouldn’t assume that his volume is going to decrease in the passing game. Jimmy Garoppolo is going to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible into the hands of his playmakers. McCaffrey is an elite playmaker out of the backfield and offers an upgrade as a safety valve for the 49ers’ passing game.
We project McCaffrey for north of six targets and north of 45 yards. ParlayIQ loves opening up with this leg as we are almost guaranteed to see a better FanDuel price than the simulations would suggest.
James Conner Over 53.5 Rushing Yards
With Eno Benjamin released and now in Houston and Darrel Williams still on the injury list, James Conner has been reestablished as the main man in the Arizona backfield. While this role doesn’t mean a ton in Arizona, Conner should still see a high volume of opportunities in the running game.
After getting his beak wet against Seattle in Week 9 with only 7 rushing attempts, Conner collected 21 attempts with Colt McCoy under center. While McCoy is certainly capable of running the Arizona offense, I would anticipate a heavy lean on Conner and the running game to slow down the pass rush in San Francisco. Of course, the 49ers allow a paltry 3.3 rushing yards per attempt to opposing offenses. We are really counting on Conner seeing all of the volume.
That said, ParlayIQ and the simulations seem to think he will receive that volume and exceed this total by a considerable margin. Since this leg is not correlated at all in a positive way to Christian McCaffrey and his receiving prop, we should not be penalized for its inclusion.
George Kittle Under 47.5 Receiving Yards
Speaking of correlation, when something goes up, something must come down. That old adage has absolutely nothing to do with football and statistics but the phrasing fit so I rolled with it.
With that out of the way, the inclusion of Christian McCaffrey in this offense is going to mean targets for everyone else are going to see a downtick until someone gets a week off. George Kittle seems to be the most likely candidate as many of his work comes in the short area or screen game. Kittle only saw two targets last week, down from 5 targets in Week 9. One thing to consider about Week 9 was that Deebo Samuel did not suit up.
With all of these weapons, it makes sense to me that Kyle Shanahan might utilize George Kittle for something he is exceptional at doing: blocking. Kittle is one of the best blocking tight ends in the game and has not once clamored for more work in the offense. With all of this talent, we are sweating a long Kittle catch-and-run to beat us. Give me the under.
Christian McCaffrey Anytime Touchdown
CMC is two-for-two with scoring a touchdown as a 49er since taking on a larger role in the offense. We will give him a pass for his first game after the trade. Since, it’s clear that Kyle Shanahan wants to maximize the potential Christian McCaffrey offers to this offense.
We already have him booked for his receiving prop. We might as well go all in and add McCaffrey to score a touchdown for the 49ers as well.
