What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

HOUBud Norris is a much better pitcher at home. His ERA of 2.38 at home is less than half that of his ERA on the road. That said, this Rays lineup is just so tough top to bottom. There are better options out there. Avoid

TB – I have been kicking myself the last two days for not taking Matt Moore or David Price. Not having either one of them has really hurt my lineups. I will learn from my mistake today though and will be rostering Roberto Hernandez in a few leagues. Hernandez is a risky play that has great upside for his price. Great GPP play. In Play

Batter Grind Down

HOU – I don’t love any of the Astros bats. Their offense is in a terrible slump, but if you really want to take someone, make it Jason Castro, he crushes right hand pitching.

TB – I don’t love the spot for the Rays offense because Norris tends to pitch well at home, but I think they will string together some hits and score some runs. I just don’t think they will put up more than 4 or so.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

MIN – I’m not really a fan of taking pitchers against the Yankees, especially when that pitcher is P.J. Walters who owns an ERA of 6.03 on the season. The Yankees are a big road favorite for a reason. Avoid

NYYCC Sabathia is always one of my favorite pitchers to take because he is usually cheaper than the other top aces, but he has a similar upside and will come up with a monster game every once in a while. He hasn’t been great on the road this season, but the Twins have a few lefty bats in the lineup usually. I think CC pitches well and picks up the win. Target

Batter Grind Down

MINTrevor Plouffe is great against lefties in case you didn’t know. His OPS against them is over 1.000 which is great. I am more on the CC side of things in this one though.

NYY – Another possible team to stack tonight is the Yankees. P.J. Walters is not very good and the Yankees are full of left hand bats to take advantage of those lefty/righty splits. Robinson Cano is on fire right now and should continue to be used.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

KCJeremy Guthrie has given up 12 earned runs in his last 3 starts and now faces a tough Indians offense. Much better options out there. Avoid

CLEScott Kazmir has been so unpredictable this season. He started off hot, then cooled way down, and now has had back to back great games. Following this trend and the fact that his ERA is above 5 on the road, I think he gets lit up tonight. Avoid

Batter Grind Down

KC – The Royals offense is always a debate I have with myself. They often have a good matchup, but they just don’t have guys that can give you huge fantasy nights. They are singles and doubles hitters. Again, I like the matchup, but would you rather have guys with bigger upside?

CLEJason Kipnis continues to rake for the Indians. The rest of the team seems to take turns having big nights. Since I can’t predict which ones that will be, I will just say to take Kipnis.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

LAA – Don’t look now but the Angels have won 7 straight. And I like their chances to make it 8 tonight. Jerome Williams isn’t a household name, but he has been very good at home over the last two seasons. This season at home he has posted a 3.09 ERA and a 1.050 WHIP. The Cards lineup is tough, but they have really been slumping. Target

STL – I expect Shelby Miller start to go a lot like Lance Lynn did last night. Miller, like Lynn, has had his struggles on the road and this Angels offense is finally starting to click. I think they jump on him early. Avoid

Batter Grind Down

LAAMike Trout and Josh Hamilton are the guys with the biggest upside tonight and I think they are both in play depending on their salaries. Hamilton has a nice hit streak going and Trout is well, a beast.

STL – Until this offense starts to heat up again, I’m not sure I will be taking any of them.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

OAK – It is going to be hard not to take Bartolo Colon tonight. He is just churning out solid start after solid start and has been excellent at home this season. He is also a huge favorite. What worries me is this Cubs offense is on fire right now. They lit up Griffin for 7 runs last night. I think Colon is in play, but be careful using him on all of your lineups. In Play

CHCMatt Garza is a high strike out pitcher with a lot of upside. Throw in the fact that his offense has been hot lately and he could be a very sneaky GPP play if the price is right. A’s are tough at home though so I wouldn’t recommend him for H2H’s or 50/50’s.

Batter Grind Down

OAK – Oakland’s offense is a tough one to predict. Vegas likes them, but I’m not sure which ones to like. I would rather take hitters facing worse pitchers.

CHC – Either the Cubs offense or Colon is going to have to cool down. I have less faith in the Cubs.
