Monday NBA Tipps: Monday Fanduel Tournament Picks
Monday Tipps: Monday Fanduel Tournament Picks
There are 9 games on the NBA schedule tonight and a full board of daily fantasy basketball tournaments around the daily sites. I’ve set out three Fanduel picks at each position tonight, one each for high, medium and low salary. Good luck in tonight’s tournaments!
Point Guard
Derrick Rose (CHI, $8300) – Rose has absolutely been on fire since missing a few games with back tightness and tonight he’s got a home game against Darren Collison and the Indiana Pacers. He’s been putting up an average of 22 shots a game over his last four while posting 29 points, 8 assists and 2 steals.
Ty Lawson (DEN, $6900) – Lawson missed a couple of games just before the All-Star break and it really seems to be a blessing in disguise and some much needed rest. Since returning from the break, he’s averaging 21 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds. He’s got a home game against the Sacramento Kings.
Jameer Nelson (ORL, $5900) – Nelson has a game against the pathetic Charlotte Bobcats, which should allow him to post a decent line for his low $5900 salary. He’s put up 20, 34 and 19 fantasy points in three games after the All-Star break and should post something between 20-25 tonight.
Shooting Guard
Monta Ellis (GSW, $8000) – Ellis has a great matchup against the Washington Wizards on the road. He’s averaging 23 shots a game coming out of the break and should be able to put up a decent line tonight against Jordan Crawford.
Jamal Crawford (POR, $6500) – The Blazers finally decided to bench Raymond Felton and inserted Crawford into the starting lineup at PG. He’s averaging 32 minutes a game over his last five games while putting up 22 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in those five.
Jordan Crawford (WAS, $6000) – The Wizards have moved Crawford into the starting lineup in place of Nick Young and he just could stay there for awhile with the way he’s been playing. He’s averaging 22 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds over the last eight games.
Small Forward
Andre Iguodala (PHI, $7200) – Iguodala gets the high priced recommendation mostly be default. You can pay $9400 for Kevin Durant, but then it drops to Iguodala. Danny Granger and Luol Deng are facing off against each other, with neither guy being that attractive tonight. Iguodala has a decent matchup against the Bucks and should be able to earn his $7200 salary.
Nicolas Batum (POR) – Down in the middle of the SF pack I’d go with Batum tonight. The removal of Raymond Felton from the starting lineup has forced Jamal Crawford to PG, which has left extra minutes for Batum. Batum has averaged about 35 minutes a game over the last couple of weeks and has posted several fantasy lines in the 30-35 point range. He should be able to get close to that in a home game against the Hornets.
Josh Howard (UTA, $5200) – Down toward the bottom of the SF barrel there’s Josh Howard. Raja Bell should be out again tonight, which means Gordon Hayward will move to SG and Howard will start at SF. Howard is averaging 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal over his last six games, which is pretty good value for just $5200.
Power Forward
DeMarcus Cousins (SAC, $8000) – The Kings will take on the Nuggets tonight and Denver could be without Nene again. If Nene can’t go, Cousins should have a big game against whoever the Nuggets decide to run out there in Nene’s place.
Drew Gooden (MIL, $6700) – Gooden is about as middle of the road average as you can get, but he’s got upside on some nights. With a home matchup against a weak Sixers interior, tonight could be one of those good spots to play him.
Kenneth Faried (DEN, $4900) – Faried has been getting some good run with Nene out and he’s been producing. He’s averaged 11 points, 8 rebounds, a block and a steal over his last 5 games. If Nene misses again tonight, give Faried a look if you need a cheap roster filler at PF.
Center
Dwight Howard (ORL, $9400) – Tonight is one of those night’s where you have to give Howard a shot if you have the money. He’s got a prime matchup against a very weak Toronto team who doesn’t really have anyone who can slow Howard down.
Chris Kaman (NOR, $6800) – Kaman makes a great middle salary play against Portland. The Hornets should still be without Carl Landry, Jason Smith and Emeka Okafor, so Kaman will get all the minutes he can handle. Marcus Camby could have some problems keeping up with the quicker Kaman.
Brendan Haywood (DAL, $5400) – There isn’t much in the center bargain bin tonight and Haywood is probably about as far down as I’d go. He’s been playing well and could get you around 20 fantasy points tonight. I think the better strategy though is to spend money at center and go cheap at another position.
