MLB Player Props Today
- Cal Quantrill o17.5 outs recorded
- Mike Trout o1.5 total bases
- Chris Sale more than 6.5 pitcher strikeouts
Cal Quantrill o17.5 outs recorded (-160), Bet365
Cal Quantrill does not have overpowering velocity nor does he have spin rates to make up for his sub par fastball. Still, he manages to eat outs better than most pitchers around Major League Baseball. In 2022, he recorded at least 18 outs in 21 of his final 30 turns through the rotation, including 14 of his final 18 starts at Progressive Field. To begin 2023, Quantrill has once again proven himself to be efficient, averaging only 3.8 pitches per batter faced. Tonight, he gets a matchup with the Colorado Rockies, which rank 26th in OPS, 26th in ISO, 25th in BB%, and 25th in K% against right-handed pitching on the road so far this season. Factor in frigid temperatures and an overtaxed Cleveland bullpen and we have a recipe for an over in this spot.
Mike Trout o1.5 total bases (+100), BetMGM
Mike Trout is not receiving an abundance of media attention this year due to the success of his teammate Shohei Ohtani, but Trout is off to a great start himself. In 20 games played, Trout has five home runs, a .329 batting average, and a 1.071 OPS. His .303 ISO is currently higher than it was in 2015, when Trout hit 41 home runs. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against Ken Waldichuk, who owns a 7.65 ERA, 5.78 xERA, and a 7.92 FIP to begin the year. Waldichuk has been particularly poor against right-handed batters, with an 8.12 FIP, 2.04 WHIP, and a .347 opponent batting average. Trout has the power potential to hit the over with one swing in this contest, but also the contact ability to secure a couple of base knocks to get the job done. Take the over.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Chris Sale more than 6.5 pitcher strikeouts, PrizePicks
The Baltimore Orioles are off to a strong start to the year in the standings, but they remain strikeout-prone against southpaws. In 268 plate appearances facing left-handed pitching this season, the Orioles rank 18th in strikeout percentage out of 30 teams. Chris Sale, tonight’s opposing starter, has not had fewer than six strikeouts in any of his four starts to begin 2023. We would love to have an official lineup and an umpire assignment before locking in this wager, but the favorable matchup is enough to warrant an early-day risk here. Trust Sale to get to seven strikeouts on Monday night.
