MLB Player Props Today
- Nick Lodolo o5.5 strikeouts
- Mike Trout o1.5 total bases
- Kyle Tucker less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts
Nick Lodolo o5.5 strikeouts (-160), BetMGM
Nick Lodolo does not have the most favorable matchup in the world tonight, but this is still a market number that he has eclipsed in five of his six starts in 2023, including each of his last two trips to the mound. Though the Chicago White Sox have a reputation as lefty-mashers, they rank only 17th in strikeout percentage, 21st in OPS, and 17th in ISO to begin the new campaign. In recent weeks, they have struck out eight times against Yusei Kikuchi and 10 times against Shane McClanahan. Lodolo has the strikeout-friendly Alex Tosi calling balls and strikes in this one, which is enough to warrant a risk on the over here.
Mike Trout o1.5 total bases (+135), BetMGM
According to props.cash, Mike Trout has eclipsed this market number in 15 of his 30 games played to begin 2023, including 7-of-13 games played at home. Tonight, he gets an ostensibly difficult matchup against Nathan Eovaldi, but Eovaldi has not been without his flaws against right-handed batters this year despite his excellent 1.34 FIP. Right-handed hitters own a .264 batting average against Eovaldi and have rarely made soft contact against him. Though the majority of the contact has been of the medium variety, that is more than enough to give Trout a fighting chance in this spot, even before factoring in potential bullpen matchups later in the contest. The over is a worthwhile risk in this spot.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Kyle Tucker less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks
It is entirely possible that Kyle Tucker strikes out this evening, but we are simply playing the math in this spot. Tucker ranks in the 84th percentile in strikeout rate, 78th percentile in whiff percentage, and 67th percentile in chase rate to begin 2023, following a 2022 campaign in which he posted nearly identical numbers. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against Marco Gonzales, who owns a pedestrian 17.9% strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. Expect Tucker to have little difficulty putting the ball in play.
