MLB Player Props Today
- Julio Urias u5.5 strikeouts
- Manny Machado o1.5 total bases
- Fernando Tatis more than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Julio Urias u5.5 strikeouts (-168), FanDuel
Julio Urias is off to a reasonably good start to the campaign, with a 3.86 ERA, 3.37 xERA, and a 4.40 FIP through seven turns in the rotation. However, he has not faced the cream of the crop that Major League Baseball has to offer to this point. On Sunday, he will have to contend with a ball club that has legitimate title aspirations – featuring a lineup that has had a lot of success against southpaws early in 2023. In 430 plate appearances, the San Diego Padres rank 8th in OPS, 6th in ISO, 8th in BB%, and 7th in K% out of 30 teams. Factor in that the strikeout-averse James Hoye will be calling balls and strikes in this one and the under becomes the clear play in this spot.
Manny Machado o1.5 total bases (+135), BetMGM
Manny Machado has seemingly been disinterested at the plate since signing a massive new contract during the offseason. However, his splits suggest that he has simply been dreadful against right-handed pitching. Facing southpaws, he has been elite – posting a .385 batting average, .903 OPS, and a 157 wRC+. Tonight, he will get at least a couple of at-bats against Julio Urias, with whom he has familiarity from the last few seasons. At plus money, this is a worthwhile stab for bettors.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Fernando Tatis more than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs, PrizePicks
Though Fernando Tatis has the potential to send electricity through a stadium every time he steps into the batter’s box, he is at his best against left-handed pitching. So far in 2023, Tatis owns a .333 batting average, 1.108 OPS, and a 199 wRC+ against southpaws – indicating that he has been 99% better than the league average hitter in these situations in the early portion of the season. Expect him to find a way to do damage in this spot.
