What kind of performances can we expect on Saturday evening from Pascal Siakam, Buddy Hield, and Joel Embiid? Follow along as our NBA betting expert, Nick Galaida, breaks down his three favorite NBA prop bets for January 14 on the hardwood

NBA Saturday began earlier this afternoon with a matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat, but there is plenty of opportunity remaining on tonight’s six-game evening slate for those who woke up late. Sides and totals continue to be volatile markets due to the long list of stars who are not in uniform, but player props allow bettors to isolate individual outcomes.

We ran into a blowout yesterday that killed two promising plays, but we are still 27-17-2 across the last 15 days overall. Below, we take a look at tonight’s action, offering three recommendations for bettors to consider adding to their card on Saturday!

NBA Player Props, January 14, 2023

Pascal Siakam o25.5 points (-123)

According to props.cash, Pascal Siakam has eclipsed this number in 10-13 games dating back to December 18. On December 29, Siakam fell short of this number, scoring 25 points on an inefficient 8-for-19 performance from the field. In December, Siakam averaged 28.3 points per game on 20.1 shot attempts, including 9.5 free throw attempts. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against an Atlanta Hawks defense that has struggled mightily since to defend the rim without Clint Capela in the lineup. Since Capela last played, the Hawks rank 18th in defensive efficiency and 19th in opponent field goal percentage in the restricted area. In that span, Atlanta has allowed more field goal attempts in the restricted area per game than any team in basketball. Expect Siakam to have a number of easy looks around the rim on Saturday, which is likely to lead to an over on his points prop, even if he does not have massive volume.

Buddy Hield o19.5 points (-110)

Per CourtIQ, Buddy Hield is averaging 20.6 points per 36 minutes of action this season when Tyrese Haliburton is off of the floor. In three games this season with Haliburton in street clothes, Hield has scored 22 points, 17 points, and 18 points, respectively, with his two misses coming on nights in which he shot 33.3% or worse from the floor. In each contest, Hield has attempted at least 15 shot attempts. Tonight, he gets a date with the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that is allowing the sixth-most three-point attempts in the league on the road this year, ranking 27th in opponent three-point percentage in 20 games. Expect Hield to have similar volume to previous action without Haliburton, but for improved efficiency to lead to the over in this spot.

Joel Embiid o32.5 points (-130)

Entering play, Joel Embiid has scored 35 points or more in six of his last eight games, adding a 30-point performance in his most recent game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the season, Embiid is averaging 33.5 points, but this average is hurt by a low-volume month of October. In November, Embiid averaged 34.1 points, followed by 35.4 points per game in December. This line is too low in a favorable matchup against the defensively-challenged Utah Jazz.
