NBA Player Props, January 21, 2023

Jaylen Brown o28.5 points (-110), DraftKings

Per CourtIQ, Jaylen Brown sees the second largest increase in usage (+3.7%) of any player on the Boston Celtics roster. Brown is averaging 31.5 points per 36 minutes of action this season when Jayson Tatum is off of the floor, giving this prop plenty of value relative to the market number. In Brown’s last 13 games with Tatum in street clothes, he has scored 24 points or more 12 times, with six games of at least 30 points. Expect him to have high volume this evening against a Toronto Raptors team that has struggled mightily to defend the perimeter in recent weeks.

Anthony Edwards o26.5 points (-108), Caesars

Across his last two games, Anthony Edwards is 12 for 33 from the field (36.3%). After Wednesday’s loss against the Denver Nuggets, Edwards expressed to Dane Moore that he was “mad” because he felt he could have done more to help his team win the game. On Thursday, the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to narrowly defeat the Toronto Raptors 128-126, but Edwards’ offensive aggressiveness was limited down the stretch due to a burdensome defensive assignment on Pascal Siakam. Tonight, there is a concern of fatigue with this being Minnesota’s third game in four nights, but Edwards should be free from any over-taxing defensive responsibilities, which is likely to afford him more energy to expend on the offensive end of the floor. Facing a defensive-challenged Houston Rockets team on Saturday, this is a good bounce-back opportunity for Edwards – take the over.

Myles Turner o15.5 points (-105), DraftKings

After scoring only seven points in a blowout loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, we took a stab on this prop in a buy-low opportunity yesterday, but got handed a hook after Turner never played in the fourth quarter. Prior to the loss against the Thunder, Turner had scored 14 points or more in nine consecutive games, with three games of at least 29 points in that span. On Friday, he had 15 points in only 23 minutes of action before the Indiana Pacers were routed to begin the fourth quarter. Expect Turner to have another great opportunity to cash the over on this prop, as long as the Pacers can keep tonight’s contest competitive against the struggling Phoenix Suns.
