NBA Player Props, February 9, 2023
- LeBron James u29.5 points
- LeBron James u8.5 assists
- Chris Paul o3.5 rebounds
LeBron James u29.5 points (-118), FanDuel
On Tuesday, it was abundantly clear that LeBron James had a singular focus – become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Through three quarters, James had 36 points and appeared to be unbothered by the score of the game. Though James has proven time and time again that he can score at will, it is doubtful that his will to score remains at its peak, following an emotional journey to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabaar. Per CourtIQ, James is averaging only 25.0 points per 36 minutes of action this season when Anthony Davis is on the floor, compared to 33.0 points per 36 minutes when Davis is on the sidelines. Expect James’ scoring output to regress slightly, now that he is no longer chasing history. Take the under in this spot.
LeBron James u8.5 assists (+100), MGM
Across the last 30 days, the Milwaukee Bucks rank fourth in defensive efficiency, second in opponent field goal percentage, sixth in opponent three-point percentage, sixth in opponent free throw attempts per game, and third in opponent assists allowed per game. Simply, the Bucks have reestablished themselves as one of the NBA’s elite defenses during their last 15 games. According to props.cash, James has eclipsed this market number in only 13 of 44 games played this year, including only 5-of-23 games played on one day of rest, and eight of 21 home games. The market is expecting James to dish out a high number of assists this evening with Russell Westbrook out of the lineup, but this number is simply too high against a premier defense.
Chris Paul o3.5 rebounds (-135), DraftKings
In 15 games played this season with both Devin Booker and Cameron Payne on the sidelines, Paul has eclipsed this market number 10 times, including seven of his last eight trips to the hardwood. Since January 22, Paul is averaging 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 rebound chances per contest. According to CourtIQ, when Booker, Payne, and Landry Shamet are each off of the floor at the same time this year, Paul is averaging 4.9 rebounds per 36 minutes of action. Assuming a competitive game script on Thursday, Paul should have a good opportunity to hit the over here.
